Unsure ultrasound?

Hi, I am seven weeks pregnant with my fourth child and recently went for an ultrasound. The u/s showed a fetus in the gestational sac but poorly defined. There was no heartbeat detected in this scan and the the scan said that it was a possible molar pregnancy due to size and is not typical  fetal structure, but did not show typical grape like formation as i have investigated withmolar pregnancy? I have never had any problems with my three other children and wonder if it is just to early to see a heartbeat and proper shape etc? My hcg levels are rising (not over the top results as I have investigated with molar pregnancies) normally and I still have morning sickness and tender breasts/tiredness, I have had no spotting whatsoever? I have a specialist appointment in a weeks time. Has anyone else been through this or can tell me any information? Your help would be appreciated, many thanks xx.

Hi Everyone , thanks for your help I have been away in Sydney seeing a specialist who informed me, yes it was a molar pregnancy and I have been in for a d & c, so sorry for the prolonged abscence of me getting back to you all. They have told me that I will have to wait six months before trying again, my husband who was happy to, now is hesitant as this has really shook him up, any advice?? Thanks so much to you all, wishing you all a merry xmas. xx

I have had 2 molar pregnancies. My 1st pregnancy was one and my 8th pregnancy was one. I have 5 children inbetween them. (one other miscarriage)

On my first molar I had a sonogram at 7 weeks which was normal except for no heartbeat. Then at 10 weeks I started spotting and during a sono they found the molar looking clusters.

On my last molar which was last month... I had what seemed like a normal pregnancy until I started spotting at 11 weeks. I went right in for a sono and they told me that it looked irregular and they thought they saw a baby but it looked as though it was losing its form. I waited to miscarry and then went back at 14 weeks because my hcg was still going up. They found during that sono that my uterus was completely full of growths.

Because in a complete molar there is no fetus I assume the poorly defined fetus they saw was the growths beginning.

I wouldn't be overly concerned but make sure they watch you closely. If it is a molar they need to do a d & c right away and follow your blood closely.

If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them. I have spent the last 10 years researching about molars.

Just wanted to say good luck to you.  I know how stressful this stuff is.

Thankyou both for your comments, I am so stressed and worried, I feel pregnant (the same as with the three boys) but wont allow myself now to get excited and it is quite depressing. I had nothing to guage it against as I had never had an u/s so early with them. My normal doctor (initially had to see a new doctor) is back and rang this morning to see if i would like to see him this afternoon. I am very grateful for this appointment, but very nervous as to the outcome. I am also off to Sydney (we live in the country) in two days time for a specialist scan. They are taking the dates from my LMP. I am secretly hoping for the best. Thankyou for taking the time to post a comment to my question, it is much appreciated.

I agree, if they are calculating from your LMP instead of from conception, the baby might be too young to see a heartbeat yet. My youngest didn't show up on an ultrasound with a heartbeat until around 6 weeks old. Doctors should really wait a few more weeks before doing that first ultrasound because too early can cause unnecessary stress. Good luck.

How did you come to the seven weeks pregnancy you mentioned? Did you calculate from the first day of your last pregnancy? Maybe you had a late ovulation and this pregnancy is younger than you think it is.
