pregnancy symptoms but negative test

hi im over 35 - my boyfriend and i are trying for a baby. we had sex one day before ovulation. i was supposed to get my period a week ago, but it hasn't come - and i am never ever late. but the day my period was supposed to come i took a EPT brand hpt but it was negative. They are supposed to be 99 percent acccurate so I accepted that it didn't happend for me. But since then i've had lower back pain, acne (which has never ever happened in my life) and tender breasts, and i feel sleep and lazy and i have wierd hunger. I had light cramps a few days ago, but they've stopped. I've had a child before and this is pretty consistent with the first pregnancy. I'm going to the doctor next week. Has anyone else gone through anything like this, and found out they were Positive?

If you don't get your period soon, you may want to see your health care provider for a blood test. It is rare, but sometimes a woman doesn't get a positive urine test even though she is pregnant (I found a case in a medical journal where the hospital tested three times, all negative...but blood test and ultrasound showed the woman was 8 weeks pregnant). Again, it is VERY rare...but it does happen.

If your hCG blood test is negative, perhaps your health care provider could check your other hormone levels to see what is going on with your cycle.

Well, at the time your period is due your HCG levels should be high enough for pretty much every home pregnancy test to work.  However, it can happen.  There is also the chance a test was not used correctly.  This might be tmi, but it's better to pee in a plastic cup, then dip the test then to pee right on it.  Far more effective..lol.  I hope its a positive for you...please let us know!  Good luck.

Thanks AnnieBrook I am going to test again tomorrow morning, because it's been a full week since the day I missed my period. I'm so nervous. I want this so bad, I was just wondering if anyone else had a negative result, but then found out they really were in fact pregnant.

Why don't you just test again?  You would certainly be within the time range for any home test to work by now.
