41 weeks and getting induced tomorrow

I am 41 weeks + 1 day and I am scheduled to be induced tomorrow. Had menstrual like cramps for last two days on and off, and 3 days ago I was just 1 cm dilated. This is my first pregnancy and I am really nervous about being induced. Can anyone tell me what should I expect?

Hi there! When I was induced with my second child (my little boy, who is 5 months old now :-) ) I live-blogged the whole journey here on MedHelp. Hopefully reading my story might answer some questions for you:

my induction was EASY (as you'll see if you read) and it was a wonderful experience :-).

Good luck!

I had two natural, and then with my 3rd I was induced...but it was only the med they put in your IV pitocin...and it was not bad at all...4 hours start to finish with no pain meds...everyone is different I know...but all in all I would not say I personally had a bad experience with induction..it was actually pretty pleasant...Good luck hun

i heard that as well, i did have an epidural. LOVE EM...LOL but like i said everyone is different so what happens to one person could be different for another.

Thanks for the feedback, I am going to try to do it with no meds, but I am leaving my options open (for epidural), especially since I read that contractions tend to be more intense when induced.

I was induced with my 1st child. what happened to me was, i went to the hospital, right away they put some stuff in my cervix or in there somewhere. LOL. and i started contracting a few hours later. i wasnt moving along so they have me another dose and started contracting harder. I had a pretty easy labor/delivery. The whole thing took 12 hours. everyone is different. the dr and hospital will explain everything once you get there...Good luck. and congrats.

Thanks!! My cousin was induced and said that it was easy and very quick she did it with no pain meds and from start to finish it was 2 hours. I know others on here who have said they were induced and it took forever. So it depends upon the person but many were able to do it with out pain meds if you wanted. I'm all for the pain meds ;)

I know many women on here have been induced. I'm still pregnant with my first so I don't know much about it but I did want to say good luck and happy birthday baby :)
