i think you should get more 0-3 and 3-6 as you have enough new born my kids were all a good size (8lb 14oz, 10lb and 11lb thank god none were over due ) and we never got to use the newborn thing we got but it still a good idea to have some as you never can really tell what size your baby will be or how fast they will grow
kiki's idea was very good. We used gowns (those baby in a bag sleepers) a lot for Noah, they kept him warm and looked so darn cute!!
Yes, babies do grow VERY quickly! I have always had more clothes for my daughter than she needs...but she spit up a LOT and had a LOT of explosive diapers (breastfeeding!) as a tiny baby so we changed clothes frequently! I liked having pants because she had one or two REALLY cute onesies that were stained by the snaps from exploding diapers and I still wanted her to wear them...so the pants helped cover up the little stain! :)
Another thing that I learned the hard way. I think Carter has such cute clothes but be careful when buying sizes. If it says "9 months" it actually means 6-9 months. If it says "6 months" it actually means 3-6 months, etc...Sarah didn't get to wear a few cute outfits because by the time I got them out for her to wear, they were already too small!
The other good thing is that since he will be a spring baby...he can survive in just onesies and you won't have to worry about layers and bundling him up! :)
Also, like someone else mentioned...I'd limit the "cute fancy outfits". They really are so much more comfortable in onesies, etc...and many of those outfits may never get worn if you have too many!
Happy Shopping!
I'm going through all my stuff now to see what I still need, I stay on the smaller side b/c I will have her at 36 weeks via section, and I'm on medication that causes small babies :( Not by choice of course, So mine will probly be good in preemie and new born for the first 3 months, My suggestion ~GOWNS~ they can be big it's ok! And it is so easy to change them at night. I think they are the best baby layette ever invented!
so it seems like it really varies and depends on the baby! I bought 2 sleepers in newborn size that come with a hat. I sorta bought them for the coming home from the hospital...my sister in law said buy 2 in case she pukes. I guess I may buy a few more things in newborn and then go to the 0-3 months. My hubby and I were both in the 7 and 1/2 pound range when we were born so hopefully that works.
Aspen wasn't a preemie but when she was born she was only 6 lbs 8 oz and from ultrasound they estimated that she would be 7 1/2 lbs. She dropped down to 6 lbs at the hospital and ended up having to wear preemie clothes. She didn't move out of newborn clothes until closer to 3 months. It honestly just depends on how big your little one is and how fast they grow.
my stepson grew out of newborn clothes so fast....when he was 2 months he was wearing 3-6 months by the time he was 4 months he started wearing 6-9...so they grow quick
I didn't get many newborn pants. While they still have the umbilical cord stump having pants rubbing their bellies can be a little irritating. Noah stayed in 1 piece outfits for his first couple months.
It is funny because DH was looking at me like I was crazy even registering for the pants...he seems to think the baby can just wear a onesie all day everyday lol
Thanks...I love the advice! I hope more people post!
my son who was 9lbs 3 ounces only wore newborn home and thats it..he can fit into some 0-3 months now but also he can wear 3-6 and some 6-9 months because he is so long..he is a little over 2 months and is 25 inches long
I do think you need some newborn clothes. Noah was only 7lbs 7 oz and he was drowning in newborn clothes, I was tempted to go buy some premie stuff for him. I liked that I had a good amount of newborn clothes because babies spit up and poop out of their diapers a lot which means two or three different outfits some days. Your baby may only be in NB clothes for a month but he needs to be clothed for that month.
Babies can go through a size in several weeks or several months - it all depends but be prepared for both scenarios.
Also be prepared for baby to go through up to 5 outfits in a day (this wont happen every day, but it can happen). I would recommend buying more than 2 sets of pants.
Mine was even a preemie and he grew out of them by 2 months, I think you will be covered with 10, remember they go through several a day. I opted to do 2 pkgs (10 all together) of all sizes! Alot of times with the real tiny OMG CUTE outfits that we go over board buying don't even have the chance to get the tags ripped off of them! LOL But OH well trial and error it sure is fun to buy them now! :)
Yeah...I was thinking of buying that next size...0-3 and 3-6. I was hoping that the 'growing into them' idea would be fine. I am expecting a bigger baby just because DH was a bigger baby (the doctor hasn't said anything yet, but it is just my hunch!) My mom actually bought some 3 mo. old stuff for Christmas presents and they looked fine (I was with her when she bought them)
But...how many onesies and pants and stuff do you need...I am assuming that you might have to change the baby's outfit twice a day in case they have leaky diaper, throw up etc. I truly have no idea though! This is just a guess!
iasked my mum for this advice!and she said theres was no point getting newborn clothesas an average baby is around 7-8lbs when born and thats usualy what newborn clothes are bought at, so im going for 0-3months and 3-6months in clothes.
Depends if you have a tiny baby really, or premature
babies grow real fast so when there one month old by 2-3 months except if you're having a preemie . so yu will get some use out of it . my mother never bought our clothes to fit, she brought them so that we had a little growing room. but our clothes never looked bad. you don't want to waste money. well good luck
