I have an ultrasound today. I am 13 weeks 6 days. My appointment is at 1:30 they want me to hold my bladder all morning and drink 3 glasses of water.... I already have to pee and its 7:30 am LOL! How on earth do they expect a pregnant lady to do this? It seems cruel! ugg. I need some support here!

for a ultrasound on the abdomen, not vaginal they ask for your bladder to be full at my hospital. They say it raises the uterus a lot. I know after 10-11 weeks you cant have vaginal ultrasounds anymore.  She told me it will help make the baby lay on her back, because last time baby was doing a handstand LOL and she couldn't measure the fluid in the back of the head to find out about down syndrome. So I am on my last day for a chance to get it measured. Oh god. I have not peed since this morning. I  stayed in bed sleeping until now just to get through it. My husband should be home, and Im having him take me early in hopes that they can get it done fast.... lol.

For me, they needed my bladder full for the regular Ultrasound and than they had me empty it before they did a TransVaginal Ultrasound..so maybe it just depends on what you're having done?

Thats strange! Everytime I had an ultrasound they told me to empty my bladder when I was about to go on the table! WEIRD!

You know what's weird?  I was just at the Dr.'s yesterday and they scheduled me for my ultra sound and she told me I didn't have to fill my bladder.  But I've heard a lot of people say that they were told to have a full bladder.  I wonder why my doc told me I didn't have to?

It's ok for you to pee.. Just make sure like around 12 noon or so start drinking a lot of water and pee until your ultrasound is over... They CANNOT expect you to go that long holding it...... You just need to make sure your bladder is full so they can get good pics of your baby ! :-) You can go to the bathroom, but at about noon I wouldn't go anymore.....

i would call them and tell them that you just can do it!  what a bizarre request!  the pee you have saved when you get there should be enough.  or just take a pee sample in tuperware and take it with you if they want your first pee of the morning.  when i had my ultrasound appt, i got there and had to pee sooooo bad.  got there 15 min before appt time and told them i had to pee now, could they give me the cup.  they said, "no, try to hold it."  this was a nearly impossible request for a pregnant woman with a growing uterus that already drinks enough water to fill a pool!  i could have peed then, and still had enough 20 min later when they took me!  but, i held it and nearly peed myself when i stood up to go with the nurse!

I guess I have really no choice considering. So lol I guess I will just have to drink a whole lot and hope this time my bladder is full. 2 weeks ago it wasn't full and they couldn't measure cause baby was doing a handstand LOL.

just keep on holding!!LOL when i was at that point in my first pregnancy i was under weight so i had to drink a TON of water so i got to the docs office to get my ultrsound waited about a half an hour then the whole hospital lost power...waited another half hour and said screw it i had to go so i did..shame on me so they had to go in and probe me to see the baby...Dont worry it sucks i kno but its worth it ull make it...and make sure you go # 2 if u can w/o peeing if u havent they may no be able to see the baby and all that holding would be for nothing.
