Labor stories anyone?? :)

Hi! I'm 32 weeks pregnant and this is my FIRST pregnancy! I'm getting more and more nervous which I'm sure is normal..every little pain I have I get so scared..lol! So I read about a lot of labor stories (most of them scary) on here..so I guess I just wanted to see if you ladies could tell me some of your stories...I know every labor story is different but I just like to hear other people's.

Wow! -Sorenr- I pray my labor goes like your's did with your little girl! That would be amazing!

-summero87- I hope and pray that the epidural doesnt fail..but I have been looking at different breathing methods and relaxation methods so hopefully that will help...my baby girl is still breech (at 32 weeks 3 days) and I know she still has time to flip but I'm worried she won't and I will need a c-section!

-haielysmomma72112- My goodness I've never heard of a cervix going back toward a rectum..haha..I would FREAK out if the doctor stuck her fingers up my behind! Oh goodness..but your labor went pretty quick..a friend of mine's took 32 hours..I hope mine doesn't go anywhere near that long!!

Mine was kinda bad!! I went in to be induced because i live 50 miles from my hospital. So got there at 5am and was put on pertussen and the contraction moniter (was already haveing contractions) and sat there tell 1 tje checked me and i was at a 5 so the said were gonna break your water. I told them i wanted a epi first they told me he was in with an emergancy c section and had to wait so they break it and i couldnt help but push it was like my body was doing it so they told me dont or i will mess up my cervix i told them this babys comeing now!! They said no hes not and checked me and was at a ten this was all in like five mins. So tje doc rushes back and thwy get ready well i push for 45 mins before they realize my cervix s going back towards my rectum!!! So ya know what thwy do!!! Stick a gloved two fimgers with a rag over tjem up my butt!! So his head finally comes out amd all this with no epi!!! It wasnt that bad tho didnt hurt much!!!

I was induced also my daughter was getting to big for my narrow pelvis and i didn't want to risk a c section if I didn't have to..started patosin at 6am spell check that ,delivered her at 3 in the afternoon epidural failed I had a natural after all ..I'm currently 17 weeks preg with a little boy an plan on trying to have a epidural again ..My advice is plan for the unexpected I walked into that hospital that day assuming the epidural would work an i didn't have to worry much about it ..always have a plan b ..I would have been better off at least thinking about if It didn't work what would I do ?!! Although I wasn't a screamer I definitely panicked and was a really scary experience for me ..this time around I'm looking more into breathing ,relaxation an stress reducer exercises to use with the epidural or solo ..congrats to u an best of luck with a healthy baby :)

The thing to remember is that although labour stories sound scary, while youre doing it your body takes over and you probably wont be scared at the time. I only got scared after my son was born when I thought about how badly it went....but I'll give you the nice story of how my daughter was born.
I woke up at about 5.30am with cramping, just minor period like cramps. After an hour I decided I really was in labour so called my then husband (he was at work). I told him not to hurry as it would take ages but I was def in labour. Another hour later I called my mother-in-law to come collect my son and I called the midwife. When the midwife arrived I was (I think) 3cm so she ordered the ambulance (as we were to travel 3hrs to the nearest big hospital). We all had a cup of tea and the ambulance finally arrived at around 8.45am, the midwife wanted to check me before we went and discovered that I was at 8cm so we were then taken to the small local hospital. When we arrived I was taken to their delivery room and I paced a bit with some gas and air until I was asked to get on the bed, I literally just crawled up and stayed on my hands and knees. I asked my husband to get me some water but as he went to leave he was told "if you want to see this baby being born, dont go anywhere!" My daughter flew out at 9.30am...4hrs after I started labouring! I dont remember my water ever breaking, I had no tearing or episiotomy and it was without a do    ubt the best experience of my life. I wish everyone could have a delivery like it...best of luck to you. As I mentioned before I had a terrible time first time which I personally blame on being induced before baby was ready (I was overdue, but not by much, it wasnt necessary and was only done because I was so far away from home and they didnt want to send me back only for me to have to travel again) My last experience with labour was so positive that I want to give birth at home this time, still have to wait to find out if they will let me as they need ro be confident that baby's position is perfect and rule out as many risks as possible. But if I'm not at home I will be in a midwife led unit and really hope to repeat the lovely experience I had last time

Yea a friend of mine got hers too early and by the time she really needed it she was like used to it or something..and it slowed her labor like crazy..she was in labor for 32 hours until they decided the baby was too big so they did a c section..but I will definitely check on the hospitals policies thanks!

I don't want to scare you! Apparently, it's relatively common for them to fail or move and can be re-inserted. I just happened to go through transition as they realized I had received no relief. If you get it early, I would guess they would re-try it at your request, but there are cons to getting them earlier. That's another discussion and I believe, every woman/couple's personal decision.

Unless your water is broken, at the hospital at which I delivered, they check you when you arrive and if you have not sufficiently progressed, they send you home. (min. 3 cm or ruptured membranes, I think?) You might want to check the hospitals' policy with your doctor since I didn't know that until they sent me to triage instead of room when we first got there!

Oh my goodness I would DIE if they have me the epidural and it didn't work! I hope i'm brave enough to stay home for a little while before going to the hospital..but I will probably jump in the car as soon as my water breaks!

My water broke about 5 am on a Sunday morning, then contractions started near noon. I tried to keep myself occupied and we headed to the hospital near 9 pm. (note: I was in regular contact w/ my doc - I don't think allowing me to stay home so long is standard US practice)

Unfortunately, my labor slowed and I made little progress through much of the night. So, we tried pitocin in the early hours of the morning and I caved and asked for an epidural. After getting it in place, they realized it didn't work but as they figured it out, I went through transition seemingly instantaneously so there was no point trying to replace it. I pushed for about 3 hours and the doc had to re-position her head at one point, but ultimately, the worst thing I remember is having to stay still to get the epidural! (maybe I wouldn't feel that way if it had worked!)

This time, I know to (a) stay home longer, (b) try to get past that first point at which I really want pain relief and hopefully, will just be past it, and (c) don't assume I'm prepared for (or can control!) exactly what will happen because of any amount of reading, childbirth classes, etc. All in all, it was 34 hours and I could recount it as one of those death-march awful stories we have all read, but I can't bring myself to speak ill of the day that brought us our daughter!

Sure u can. I wanted pain meds too but dilated from 2cm to 10 in under 10 minutes so there was no time. The second time around I didn't even want pain relief. I knew I could do  it without. Its painful but its a pain that's worth it and when its all done and Ur holding Ur baby, you've already forgot about the pain. :)

with my first i was 4 days overdue and was to be induced the day after i actually went into labor.  I went in at 12:30am and got put on pitocin to help speed it up, i had no pain meds and had my baby boy by 7am.  I had some back pain, but otherwise i felt great.  My second was induced and went in at 1pm no meds again and had my second son by 4pm...don't remember any pain with the second one either.  I'm preggo with my 3rd now and hoping i can do it again with no pain meds.  Only thing i have to say is not to think about it...i know its easier said than done, but just concentrate on the idea of having your baby and let everything else leave your mind and you will do fine.
