Why isn't she moving much? Please help

I have been feeling my baby move very regularly. Everyday, Its strong hard kicks. Especially between the weeks of 20 - 21 1/2. I'll now be 23 weeks this thursday and yesterday her movement was not alot at all, And when she did move it was not so strong. I'd say she moved about 15 times yesterday altogether. Now it seems like the exact same thing today. maybe twice. Not much at all... 2 days ago I felt really hard kicks like normal, and frequently. I just came down with a cold a few days ago, and am getting over it, So yesterday all I did was lay down and constantly feel my belly. Does anyone know why the fetal movement is slowing down? I'm really scared and hope this is normal!

Just like us, babies have days where they are a bit lazy.  So long as you ARE feeling her move then everything should be fine.  I'm almost 24 weeks and there are days when i don't feel her much and days where it seems like she never stops moving.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Even if they've been active a lot, they will have days when they don't move as much. Just like we do. If it really worries you can call your doctor and get looked at.

Its way to early to feel regular movements from your baby which is why doctors dont recommend performing kick-counts until about 28 weeks.

I would be concerned about it right now. If you go more than 24 hours without feeling your baby move, then call your OB/GYN. But other than that, babies go through lazy periods. With my first, he started kicking about 16 weeks. But as time went on, his kicks became fewer and further in between. I thought at one point something had happened to him. But when I got check out, there he was...just fine. So relax for now.

At this stage, the baby is still on the small side and can flip and move around easily....and may be turned inward and kicking you on the inside, which is pretty hard to feel, especially when they're this small.  My second son didn't move as much as my first...and for the entire pregnancy.  It turned out that he was facing inward and that's why I wasn't detecting major kicks and punches.  On the plus side, my ribs didn't hurt like they did with my first ;-)

I'd say that you don't need to worry at this stage in the game.

Every doctor has something different to say I noticed.  Every baby is different too.  You know what her patterns are.  If you can get her moving that is a good indication... like I said maybe she is comfy and resting.  But, if you seriously have a feeling something is not right you should for sure call in.  I have done that before not about movements, but just about not feeling right.  They will see you right away and you will feel much better with their reassurance!

Even if she's been moving so regularly everyday? Like sometimes I'll just move my belly when I'm laying down and she moves a little but not alot, nor hard. Thank you for your input!!

I am 30 weeks and the same thing just happend to me yesterday.  They do spend a lot of their time sleeping... I hardly felt my son at all during the night and yesterday.  Then last night he finally kicked so hard I saw his foot or hand ... and he kept me up all night :)  I know my doctor said it wasn't necessary to monitor and movements until around 27-28 weeks. After 28 weeks doctors will recommend kick counts where you should lay down for an hour a day.  Before hand drink a glass of juice, and count how many movements (any type) you feel in an hour.  It should be 7-10.... if you reach that in five minutes great.  If you don't redo the hour and call if she is not kicking as much as she should.  Most of the time my doctor was saying everything is fine... but better to be safe then sorry.

You should not worry - they really do not start to consider lack of movement until 28 weeks.  Before then they are sporadic.. she could be facing inwards kicking and such towards your back which you would not feel as much - also your placenta could be in between her and your belly - cushioning any hits.  There are different views on fetal kick counts - some say 10 in 2 hours or 4 hours - my dr said if I don't feel her move 10 times in 10 hours to call...she could be moving at night and you are not aware of her movements.... I would mention it at your next appointment - but it is normal to have times you don't feel them - at 20 plus weeks!
