Is an irregular heartbeat normal?

I've noticed that my heartbeat may speed up and it feels as if it literally will jump out of my chest. It doesn't happen when I do something physical though. It's at weird times....like I'm laying down or sitting with my feet propped up or just finished eating. I don't know if it is normal or not. But it scares me! Any idea what could be going on?

I have the same issue. Scared me the first few times it happened, especially since high blood pressure runs in my family. I was just told to monitor it and make sure it doesn't stay too high. Doc said if it stays too high for too long, to go to the ER.

It can be totally normal. Increased blood flow and the fact that your heart is pumping for 2. But, let your dr know. It is something to keep an eye on. Hope all is well :)
