Crazy weight gain after HG in first trimester

I'm only 21 weeks, but have gained a lot of weight (I used to work a very physical job and can't anymore).

I'm having trouble managing my weight even with a balanced, healthy diet and regular exercise. I'm even still jogging regularly.

I had HG really bad my first trimester and couldn't eat/drink. I just had an IV. Now that I am eating, it's like my metabolism is just shot and my body doesn't know what to do with food. (I had lost 30lbs during the first trimester, but am now overweight compared to what I should be if I hadn't ever lost weight in the first trimester.)

Will it go back to normal after I have the baby?

This is my first, so I don't really know what's normal.

I'm getting my thyroid looked at at my next appointment too.

Thanks for the advice everyone! My doctor ultimately told me to just keep eating well and stay active too. I guess that's all I can realistically do.

I have gained about 19 pounds (I was only supposed to gain like 20 for my total pregnancy).

With my first pregnancy I gained so much weight my metabolism just plumeted. I was under weight at maybe 110 when I got pregnant and was 185 the day before I had my baby. I ate about half as much as I did before I got pregnant and I was active working 80hr weeks while pregnant. My doc wasn't too worried since I was eating well and not sitting on the couch. Just be honest with your doc so they can take the precautions they need to and do tests they need to to make sure everyone is healthy :) I never got anywhere close to back down to where I was before maybe 150 which I was at the start of this pregnancy. However i didnt really try to or anything. Everyone is different so it's hard to know.

I'm only 18 weeks and have already put on a 14lb in weight and it's really getting me worried and down too. I've always struggled with my weight and it yoyo's drastically. At my biggest I was 185lbs and at smallest I was 98lb.
I'm so scared that by the end of this pregnancy I'm going to be right back at 185, but even if I am, I can't do anything about it till then so I'm trying not to concentrate on it too much

I've never been a skinny person but before my first pregnancy I was at my smallest ever....weighing roughly 140. I workedout jog/swimming and walking. I still gained 65+ lbs. I wasn't happy with the weight I was gaining but my doctor told me as long as I was active to not worry about it too much. My first 1 hour test I failed - which my doctor said was common. The 3 hour I passed with flying colors. After I had her and was home about 2 weeks, I lost 20 lbs- just related to water weight and baby.
As long as your doctor doesn't seem bothered by your weight gain I wouldn't stress about it too much. I just had my second baby in august. I weighed less that pregnancy than my first. Everyone's body and pregnancies are different. My second I had no bloating, like I did with my first. Also no morning sickness or acne- it was completely different.
I'm now pregnant again with baby three. My weight is an issue because I never got a change to loose any before getting myself knocked up again. Even now, I'm considered obese but my doctor said healthy decisions and exercise are all I can do...my body is gonna make up it's own decision about where weight so or not. He said focus on baby and worriy about weight later. That's hard for me because I have pcos but I cannot change my weight now.
Basically my long winded story is - don't stress about the weight because that's not healthy for you or the baby.  Congratulations and good luck

I know how you feel, I've always been thin and could eat whatever I want. I'm 24 weeks now, but at 22 week appt I'd gained 9 pounds in four weeks!! The previous two months I'd only gained 5 pounds each. So that puts me at 19 pound gain total. I'm scared to go to my next appointment and be put on the scales at 26 weeks.. I don't want to strain myself and work out or anything. Also have my glucose test then so that'll be fun. How much have you gained total?
