Sciatica rant

I am 29 1/2 weeks and I have been dealing with sciatica for a few months now during this pregnancy and At first i was able to stretch and feel better.  Now by the end of every day one of my legs is basically being dragged behind me since i can barely lift it due to the amount of pain i am in. Usually my leg gets tingly or numb as well.  It varies from side to side as to which one hurts the most.  I walk like i am 90!  I have a pretty high pain tolerance and i am not one to complain  about pain or discomfort.  I mentioned that i have been having sciatica pain to my doctor but didnt tell him how bad it is since i wont take prescription or over the counter drugs daily nor am i willing to leave work early unless baby needs me to! Can anyone reassure me that this will go away after baby comes? I have never had sciatica problems before!  Thanks for letting me vent even if noone responds! I am also open to any tips! I have been going to a chiropractor i know (i dont even like doing this) and it seems to lessen it the day i go but that is about it.

I'm not going to say it goes away after pregnancy, but it does get better. My sciatica flares up every now and then  but it isn't as bad as when I'm pregnant

So sorry you are dealing with this.  I had it really bad with my first baby and it was unbearable.  I think I was fortunate BC I didn't get it til close to 37 weeks but it nearly killed me.  I tried acupuncture but relief only came after my son was born.   I hope something works for you!!  I know resting helped me but some don't have that luxury.  Heat also helped.

I have my husband do the same thing to me. Before bed its routine to say "babe can you push here on my butt". Lol. It feels like it helps.

Have had this in one of my 6 pregnancies.  Went to chiropractor almost 2 years.  Went away later.  This pregnancy both arms went completely numb.  Couldn't even hold a pen or peel potatoes.  Painful.  Now I am 29 weeks and don't have it.  But have other things.  What do us mommies indore for our precious ones ☺

Thanks ladies! I cant afford to go to physical therapy às i dont have benefits and they are not cheap!  I did learn the stretches they do and they help some.  I am seeing a chiropractor and she helps some as well.  It is a standing joke between me and hubby that our little man is already a pain in my butt!  It will be worth it!

When it gets really bad for me I just lean over the couch and have my husband punch my butt really hard in the spot that hurts... I know it sounds a little weird but it does relieve the numbing pain that shoots down my legs.

I get sciatic pain in my right butt cheek. It happens at work, as I'm on my feet all day. I lay on my left side and massage the sore spot. It seems to help relieve it for a bit. If it's really bad I'll also put a heat pack on it.

Thanks ladies!  The pain is deep in my butt or i would go get a massage.  Going to try a heating pad tonight.  Have been using cold packs since i thought that might reduce swelling?  Willing to try anything that isnt a med!

I'm sorry that you u are going through this. I as well have been experiencing sciatic pain but mine hurts when I have to much activity going on. For example, if I mop, clean, bend and walk a lot by the end of the day when I lay down in bed it hurts so terrible I also am not a fsn of taking any medication. However, I did look up on YouTube and found a video  that demonstrated how to massage underneath your right leg, in my case that's where its bothering me, my right lower back hip to back is in so much pain. anyway I have my husband rub my lower back and put pressure on my leg and it does relieve the pain but not for long. I was told it goes away after pregnancy but I'm not to confident as the pain is bad. Good luck I hope this helps you in anyway.

You can use a warm heating pad on your back that is what I did, and seemed to be the best way without taking prescription

It does go away after baby is born. Resting when it hurts is the only thing that really helped me.
