I have had a lot of bad headaches recently but I can also feel pain in my neck that is contributing to the headaches, plus I suffer from migraines. I have been going to a chiropractor to help with the neck and using icy hot. I have also eaten ice cream (I kinda preach this because of how well it works for me) to help with migraines/headaches. Ask your Dr about migraine medicines you can take also. Another thing I'd suggest is a ice pack on your neck, cold towel on forehead and a cold dark quiet room. Hope you feel better soon!
If i were you, i would try half a cup of coffee, its not going to hurt the baby or you, but it might make you feel better, i was having bad headaches my first trimester and my bf was adament that i do not take anything for it, but it was unbearable, once i took some coffee it did wonders,
Maybe half a cup and just see if not try another
I hope it works, let me know :)
That's a good point BandM07...try some caffeine...especially if you used to have caffeine a lot and then gave it up or cut down on it a lot during the pregnancy.
Thanks for the answers ladies! I just had some ice cream and it's taken the edge off, at least temporarily. I'll have to ask my husband to pick up some soda on his way home (he got home from a 12 hour day, and within 10 minutes got called out again). I have no problems having caffeine every now and then, I'm just not a coffee person. If the soda doesn't help I'll try coffee tomorrow anyway. I have noticed the cold helps, maybe I'll try a cool shower. My husband is all for me taking something if it helps, the problem is not much helps.
I had SEVERE migraines with my first baby. It was so painful that it caused my blood pressure to sky rocket. I was given two shots of demerol....it helped but only temporary. I think these sort of things are just caused by hormones. Mine went away after I had the baby....sorry I can't offer more help. A good strong neck/back massage helped a little. Some headaches are caused by back/neck tension.
I make my poor husband rub my neck every night before bed because it gives me temporary relief so I can fall asleep. He really is not a fan, but he does it anyway haha. I'm thankful my blood pressure hasn't jumped much, only 134/86. They're watching it closely though. I'm hoping the headaches will ease up soon, if not it'll be a long remainder of the pregnancy.
Glad the ice cream helped some. Try the icy hot or biofreeze in your neck and a massage and/or chiropractic adjustment. (I mention those again because you mentioned your husband massaging your neck at night to help you).
I have those same headaches. At 16wks. Sometimes it gets so bad I wanna cry. Coffee seems to help. But I use the cold rag and darkness most of the time
