I'd say go ahead and get one. It's never guaranteed to work because of the virus mutation, but some mild side effects are a very small price to pay for possibly avoiding being pregnant AND having the flu.
I got it this year (never do normally) and all it did was make my arm sore for the night and made me tired for the night.
The choice, as always, is yours. I don't believe baby receives any antibodies until/if you begin breastfeeding. Do what makes you feel comfortable and safe, mama.

I got it because I've been sick constantly during my pregnancy and my doc pushed for me to get it because of that. I had a reaction to it. I was really dizzy and kept passing out for a couple days after. The doc said that was normal... Which he didn't tell me before it happened. But I was also anemic which could've been some of it too. I have still been getting sick but it's not as bad I guess. Talk to your doc about it and weigh the benefits and the risks. It's a personal decision.

I didn't mention this before, but I work with preschool children who all had snotty runny noses 101+ fevers nasty coughs coughing in my face, and sneezing their nasty boogers all over me in the fall and my husband ended up with a nasty stomach flu during Christmas but I just took proper precautions (hand washing, sanitizer, Clorox wipes, drinking orange juice by the gallon! Lol taking my apple cider vinegar and probiotics, eating tons and tons of yogurt and antioxidant rich fruit and fiber).  So... It is possible to not get the flu just by boosting your immunity and caring for your digestive health.  But I've also worked with kids for 10 years so my immunity is kind of at a decent place.  Also take into consideration whether or not you are prone to getting sick when not pregnant.

Sorry... Just wanted to add that tidbit

I have never had the flu in my life. I do build my immune system as well as my 4 yr olds naturally. She has never had the flu.  I have only had the flu shot twice both of which were while I was pregnant. I have never had negative side affects to the shot. On my own I would not have gotten the shots & there are shots I opted out of for my 4 yr old. But I have a hubby that is in the medical field & feels very strongly about getting it, so I did get it with my pregnancies.

I got the flu shot back in October.  I don't normally get them, mostly due to laziness.  One thing to know, as it could help with your decision, is that there is no live virus in the shot they give to pregnant women.  Its a little bit different than the one given to the general population.  There is minimal to no risk of getting sick because of getting the flu shot.

Has anyone who had it while pregnancy gotten sick at all? I've been advised to book one and the whooping cough jab but I have 3 young kids and a hubby with a huge work load so me getting sick is out the question :)

Thanks everyone.  I think I am just extra nervous about not getting because somene in the city I live in has died of complications from the flu this week. It makes me extra anxious.  I am leaning toward mot getting it but I have an app later today with my family.doctor and Will see what she says.

Hi there, of course the decision is totally up to you.  I've had flu shots ever since I can remember, but as an adult not every year either.  Last year I didn't get immunized. Anyways,  right now I'm 10 wks and got mine a few weeks ago at 4 wks- without knowing I was pregnant. Today while I was a the Dr's office they seriously had signs everywhere suggesting the flu shots. My nurse asked me and I replied I had received it already and asked if it was ok so early in pregnancy and she replied it was completely ok. Better to be protected early on. Just wanted to share, maybe this helps a bit. Good luck! :)

My body is not used to receiving it, therefore I did not get one.  It actually makes me really sick.  AND I'm opting for a drug free pregnancy.  I have not had any medications including over the counter.  I'm 25 weeks.  What the previous poster said though... Research and make an educated decision as to what is best for you.  If you have an ob he or she might recommend you get it... I have a midwife and she did not recommend it for me.  Besides there are natural ways of boosting.immunity.  things like Echinacea purpurea & rosehips or apple cider vinegar taken regularly.

Ultimately it has to be your decision though.  :)
