A question to mothers of formula fed infants?

I am so curious about the whole thing. I plan on breast/supplementing for the first month then going to strictly formula. Im doing this to make it easier in the both of us anf also to help my uterus contract. Anyway I'm so confused about what to do. Like do you burp them every ounce? How many ounces should I prepare the first month? Also are your formula fed babies smart and healthy? Lol. Just any advice I could use. Do any of you regret formula feeding? Ehich was best bottle/formula. Thanks so much!

I breast feed my first for 13 months. She is just now 14 months. So I am just tired of breastfeeding. I will be having this one in 2 months so I just need a break!

I am preg with baby #4. I breastfed my first for only a month. I tried so hard but it was so painful. I breastfed my other two for 13 months. And I can honestly tell u that even though I prefer breastfeeding and will def BF this baby for at least a year, my first born is so stinkin smart. And he never gets sick! I think that first month of BF was very important. I always wondered if I would see a difference but not at all! He never gets sick and is above his grade level in math and reading (he's 7, in 1st grade) and is an honor roll student at a private school. Just try your best, I would recommend BF the first month and just do what you have to do to be the best mommy and happy baby you can be! :) good luck!

My daughter had a protein allergies so I had to formula feed and I only pumped in the beginning actually breastfeeding is not for me! She's smart too smart for three and I go with Playtex flo vent! I loved them and that's what bby #2 will be getting and formula from the start I'm not even going to try this time I want my body back and my life! If u get a bottle that reduces colic and air they will hardly burp my daughter seldom burped but I would let her eat until she went away from the bottle then Try the bby will let unless know what u need to do u just have to pay attention!

With my first I had to stop breastfeeding once I returned to school, finding time to pump and not miss class in high school was extremely difficult. I do not regret it one bit, my daughter is healthier than my breastfed baby and has been doing so well in school that she was accepted into a school that focuses in fine arts. For bottles I used the Playtex Air Vents and at 8 months I switched to Dr Browns they were easier for her to hold. As to which formula to use that is a trial and error thing, each baby is different and reacts differently to each brand. I burped every 2 ounces and the amount they drink just depends on the babys growth rate. The pediatrician will be able to advise you best once you are ready to switch over.

I've always been in advanced classes (they wanted to jump me grades in elementary school), I've always read and comprehended at a higher grade level than I was in. When I graduated, it was in the top 5% of my class (250+ students). When I went to college, I was an Honors Program student.

I was strictly formula fed as an infant.

I breastfeed my daughter for 2 mo and then formula... She blows me away with how smart she is. She will be 2 next month and she picks up on everything right away. She is also very healthy. Has gotten a cold but that's it. In the beginning I burped her every 2 oz.

I had to formula feed my first due to medical issues and she is fantasticly smart... she went for her preschool screening and she scored off the charts in a lot of categories... I'm going to try again with my second but. Mostly for the antibodies etc but I will not beat myself up if I can't again this time... with my daughter I always burped halfway through the bottle which changes as the amount they eat goes up... good luck

I strictly formula fed my son. He's 4yrs old now and smart as a whip. The only thing I did notice was he was prone to get sick easier than any breastfed baby I knew. I didnt get to breastfeed him at all.

Im on baby #2 now and I am determined to make breastfeeding a success this time. Hopefully it will be better, heck im only 18wks and already leaking/producing. Lol

This is my second pregnancy and I tried my hardest to breastfeed my first. I only could for about 1 month due to PHD and had to switch to formula. My son is almost 6 and is very smart and doing well in school. Don't let anyone tell you formula babies will not be as smart as breast babies. I will try again to breastfeed my daughter when she gets here for as long as I can. As far as preparing formula, no one can tell you that but your baby.  You don't know how much they will eat or how little. I prefer Avent bottles. Good luck to you. Hope my advice helps.
