I remember hearing the covering your head and ears part from my grandmother. It was my understanding that because your body is going through a change it makes you a bit more vulnerable to rapid temperature changes. Like stepping outside if the weather is cold or windy after being indoors,  or the other way around. My grandmother really mentioned this especially to those who had just went through a c section. Other things not cooking also because of your wound and not walking soo much for it to heal quicker. Of course things are a lot more different now a days so don't worry too much, and as the others said take it easy and do what you feel comfortable with. :)

What kind of women are these? Are they like a certain religious group? This all sounds very strange to me...is it because I'm American?

I'm about to have my 4th child and I have never heard such sillyness in all my life! Sweety do what you would normally do within reason. Yes you just had a baby but if you feel up to doing things go for it! Don't push yourself too hard but there is no reason that you should feel restricted from anything unless your Dr has given you instructions to stay away from it or it causes you pain or discomfort. Eat well rest when you need it and enjoy your baby. Remember it is your life And your child don't let other women push you around. As far as breast feeding goes just remember that as a general rule of thumb what ever you put in your body a certain amount will travel thru your milk to the baby. Good luck and congratulations on your new little bundle of joy :)

What an odd bunch of people lol it sounds to me like they just have strange sayings when they're actually just trying to get you to take it easy and protect yourself from viruses and stuff.
Your doctor knows best and you know what you need more than anyone. I doubt you need to cover your head while indoors lol but extra rest is always good.

Hi, I have 2 girls and one on the way. My doctor and the hospital advised me to start walking as soon as I can. Granted im not walking for miles. I have never heard of wearing cotton balls in your ears or anything covering your head. I do know its a good idea to cover the babys head. Im sorry these women are telling you things like this, it seems more harmful than helpful.  I would get a book on newborn care, or ask your doctor or nurse. Good luck to you!

That's very strange, I wonder why they'd think you need cotton in your ears and stuff. Unless it's really cold where you are, but then why don't they have cotton in their ears?
I didn't do anything special after my first was born, except the obvious stuff like caring for my stitches and drinking extra water and all that. Otherwise, I did whatever normal things I would have done anyway.
