At givingbirthnaturally.com there is a video of a woman giving an at home unassisted birth on her bed. The baby is 9 lb 5 oz and she doesn't even scream and you can see that she is using all the natural birth techniques with staying calm... I am not one for birthing videos but it brought tears to my eyes. I can't beleive how peaceful and non traumatic birth cam be. There is a lot of info online. I am reading the sears birth book now.

Following this post I too plan on trying for an all natural birth I've had two previous labors both with epidurals and major back pain from both so I want to try something different but scared of going natural

Thank you everyone! This really helps me to be more mentally prepared at least and gives me something to look forward to! I really appreciate the upbeat positive feedback, that helps a lot. Luckily for me I have a very supportive husband so it sounds like that will be super helpful! Thank you for the warning that in the delivery room they will ask if I want an epidural a lot, I assumed that if my birth plan was to try it naturally they then wouldn't offer unless I asked! That is definitely something I will prepare for!

I unfortunately don't have the option for an epidural because my platlet count is extremely low. My first son I didn't like the way the epidural made my legs feel I had them stop the epidural right away and 3 hours later delivered him natural. It hurt so bad but like others have said once he's out you don't feel a thing!

I am also a ftm & from asking all the people I know that have done it naturally I've heard a lot of positive thinking, deep calming breaths, stay in control of your mind-know that its not going to last forever & the reward is the most beautiful thing you can imagine! Know that you can do it. There will be blood, sweat, & tears but everyone has said they would do it all over again! The pain will subside & the only thing that matters is that you successfully brought an angel down to Earth!! :) Hope this helps, I'm feeling all the emotio

I found that a stress ball worked great for me. I needed something to squeeze and dig my nails in to. Find some relaxing music maybe an essential oil diffuser with lavender. And make sure your hubby/boyfriend or who ever is there with you knows that you want to do this naturally and they might need to talk you out of an epidural in the heat of the moment. It hurts a lot. Labor is mostly mental preparation.

I had a natural birth, I didn't have any pain relief, although I did ask for an epidural delivery ward was full so I had to wait then it was too late. I was pushing for 3 hours, my son was back to back but they didn't know until his head had delivered- she originally said I would be in there an hour tops! I had to be cut twice which wasn't nice, it's definitely worth it though, it has to be or else I wouldn't be 19 weeks pregnant with no.2! I would say just try to relax as everyone's labour stories are different. Just go in with no expectations knowing you'll have a beautiful baby when you walk out. X

I had natural birth it was painful, but you got have your support group holding your hand. Giving you cool rag on your forehead, and fan you when you are hot. It all turned out okay. Successful delivery, but the Doctors will keep asking you do you want epidural you have stick in tell them do doing this natural.

I did. I was induced but other than the insert to start induction I had no drugs. It was fast went very smoothly 5 big pushes from start to end. I had a Really quick labor tho. Water broke at 9:20ish holding baby at 10.
It hurts you'll scream, you may tear, I did a little but you will forget the pain soon after baby it out.
I say go for it. Did it with my 1st plan on it for my 2nd
