Antidepressants and pregnancy

So I have been on antidepressants for a good 3-4 years now and my dr just recently switched my meds because it can be harmful to the baby in the third trimester. Well this whole weekend has been absolute hell adjusting to the new meds.. I have horrible headaches, the shakes, and really bad nausea. I just don't even feel like myself either I am having negative outlooks on the changes once the baby arrives and before the med change I wasn't. I'm hoping this will pass once the new medication kicks in but right now I'm not seeing the bright side and I just blah. Anyone else have this happen during their pregnancy??

I did consult my dr and he said it was normal to be moody for the first week or so of taking it so I guess I will just wait it out. I just don't see how me being miserable would be good for the baby? Everything is making me cry and I'm tired and sleep almost all day long.

Are you seeing a consultant for the depression? I have to see one twice through the pregnancy even though Im not on medication due to my history, family history of depression and a case of child abuse thats just come out in my family. I was referred by midwife..sounds like you could do with the same..

I think so..i think until they kick in..with mine I was really low for 13 days on the 14th day of taking I felt better..most of my mums family are on antidepressants and some don't work as well for others and theyll change you to different ones..you could always ask to have a word with the Dr..

I wonder if it's normal to be having negative thoughts? Could that be a side effect?

Thats okay :) If it helps my Dr told me some people are more sensitive to antidepressants and so get these side effects. My sister has been on same one I was on (she was put on it when she was 10 weeks pregnant) and had no side effects at all!

I have had terrible side effects to antidepressants (citalopram)..lasting two weeks and from there they were fantastic and really helped..but I wasn't pregnant. They do take up to around 6 weeks generaly to kick in neway..I know its tough..if you are concerned I would speak to your Dr..hope things get better for you soon
