Bleeding, Cramping, Weird HCG's

I'm posting this not to get answers, although that would be nice, but just to explain my situation, and I'm hoping to relate to others right now. And, I do plan on posting my final results when they come about. So... here it goes.

I received, what I thought to be my period on April 20th. My period usually lasts about 6 days and is usually pretty heavy. When it lasted 7 days, I didn't think much of it. But after 7 days, I continued to spot brown, I also notice brown stringy discharge when I wiped. This would go on several days after my "period". I decided to call an advice nurse and tell them everything. I also feel the need to say my husband and I were trying to conceive, so of course, i was testing a lot! I tested before my expected period, I think 5 days before, and even maybe a day or two before, and maybe somewhere in between those days too. Anyways, all tests came back negative. Back to the advice nurse. When I called the advice nurse on April 29th (still spotting) the advice nurse asked if it were possible I could be pregnant. I said no because I had just had my regular heavy period with clots and all, and I tested negative before my "period". After I had gotten off of the phone, I took a pregnancy test and it was positive! I was extremely happy but confused. I got a blood test this same day to confirm the pregnancy and because of the bleeding they tested the levels which were 220. The next day, April 30th (a saturday), I called the advice nurse again, mentioned that I knew I was pregnant and that I was still spotting dark brown with the stringy stuff so she advised me to go to urgent care within the next so many hours. The concern was possible ectopic pregnancy. Urgent care sent me to ER. ER gave me blood tests and a vaginal ultra sound that revealed thin lining, a gestational sac, and a cyst, and some fluid. I guess the thin lining and fluid were bad but the sac and cyst were good. Doc said he estimated me to be around 4-5 weeks pregnant and that it was too early to tell anything. He had me come back the next day to get my levels tested again. On April 30th my levels were at 376 and then the next day on May 1st they were 551 which was good. He said I was going in the right direction. After May 1st I would experience cramping (felt like menstrual cramping), lots of back pain, weird twinges of pain here and there, and stringy tissue like discharge when I wiped (little light tan bits). With nobody concerned about my previous bleeding, and spotting, and cramping, and with my 1st OB apt. scheduled in June I became proactive again and called my primary care and they said I could come back and get my levels tested again. So on May 9th that's what I did. I tested at 1262. I the meantime I called my OB and was persistent in talking to a nurse since the receptionist didn't seem to relay my information the first time. The nurse called back and had me tested that same day on the 10th. The results came back at 1371. She said she would expect to see me at 8000 and that she believed I was at the tail end of a miscarriage. She wants me to go back on the 12th and get tested again.

I guess I'm just really confused because my negative pregnancy tests before the "period" or bleeding suggested I was not pregnant, but the after the bleed I tested positive. My HCG levels climbed after that and continue to climb, but they are not where they need to be. I'm curious to find out some answers. Has anyone else experienced this?

Levels:

April 29th: 220
April 30th: 376
May 1st: 551
May 9th: 1262
May 10th: 1371
May 12th: coming soon...

I kinda had the same thing happen with my first and third pregnancy both ended in miscarriage unfortunately. My hgc levels were at normal levels supposed to be 12 and 11 weeks according to last periods and both the babies had stop developing at 10 and 11 weeks but my body was still thinking everything was okay.

Haven't experienced this, but good luck with everything. Has anyone told you what levels are normal if your supposed to be 4 to 5 weeks along? Some of the early spotting sounds like possible implantation bleeding and if that's the case then your testing before your period would be consistent with a negative result since you may have been too early on to test positive. Just some thoughts!  I hope you get the news your hoping for!
