Blood Pressure

Hey ladies,

I'm 37+6 today and had an appointment. Baby is measuring fine, heartbeat is good, everything is fine with her. But my blood pressure is creeping up. Last week it was higher than normal but not concerning. Today my doctor was a little worried so she took my blood pressure again and it was okay (sorry I can't remember numbers). But she asked if I wanted to be induced at 39 weeks, which I most certainly do NOT want! So she said we will watch my blood pressure very closely and make decisions based on that.

Both my parents have high BP but I was always on the low side when I was young. It has been normal this whole pregnancy. I have had a lot of swelling, though. This is nothing like my first prenancy! My mother in law was very worried about preclampsia because of the swelling but my BP wasn't worrisome until now.

Do you ladies have any suggestions for keeping my BP as low as possible? I don't eat much salt but I will be actively avoiding it now. What else can I do?

I dont blame u there at all. I had a very long hard labor and I do not recommend it. They will definitely need to prove that the baby or I are in danger for me to agree to it this time. I will beg for bed rest first. Good luck and keep me updated.

Thanks. I haven't been able to sleep well lately so I think that has something to do with it. I was induced with my first but I really want to avoid it this time.

I was fine my whole first pregnancy with my daughter other than horrible swelling until my last office visit before my due date (39+3) and then my BP spiked and I had no choice but to be enduce and I was diagnosed with pre eclampsia. It was a health risk for me and the baby at that point though. This time around they are watching me like a hawk and so far so good. Some get it early and others like me are lucky to get it at the very end. Just relax...get plenty of rest with ur feet elevated. This will help with the swelling and BP. Stay as stress free and do as little as possible. :-) Good luck Momma.
