Another thing to think about is checking for a tongue or lip tie if you have problems with latching. They are fairly common and can cause a lot of stress. Great post and thanks for sharing!
Yes, there are bottles on the market that claim to work more like breast feeding. However, it's not true. There are no bottles like breast feeding. Its the special tongue movement on the nipple that can't be duplicated with a bottle. A good rule of thumb is not to introduce a bottle until after the 3 week mark. Of course, there are some babies that don't have a problem going between breast and bottle from day 1. But you never know what you will get so IMO it's better to wait the 3 weeks until bf is established so you don't have any possible rejection of the breast by baby.
I love this post! The only thing for me is that if you use bottles that are for breastfeed babies, you don't have to wait. It was this way with 4 out of 5 of my babies. I breastfed mine till a year. All did great.
I haven't but I will now :)
Have you posted this on any off the other forums? I think the 18-24 forum could definitely use this!
I love this! I had breastfed both my boys and plan on doing so with this one. Hopefully I can get my milk supply up and it stays that way.
Auto correct :/ your breasts not breastroke. Stupid phone.
Great post :). I'd also add, make sure you start with your other breast each feeding. Meaning if baby started on the right (which means they most likely nursed longer on this side) and finished up on the left, your next feeding should start on the left. Keeps your breaststroke more even, and gets your baby that much needed hind milk :).
