Can hcg levels rise slowly, then double and still be a normal pregnancy?

I found out I was pregnant and we were so excited; things seemed to be going so perfectly in our lives. The initial bloodwork showed that my hcg levels were low and my doctor became concerned. They were at 196 then 2 days later at 254, then 3 days later 500. At that point my OB was certain I was going to miscarry and suggested a D&C. Before I would have it done, I requested one more blood test. It doubled to 1000 (2 days after the 500 titer). My doctor seemed dumbfounded. I'm going crazy worrying about if I am going to miscarry or not and if not, could there be something abnormal with our baby? I have not had one other symptom indicating a possible miscarriage, in fact I feel as pregnant as a woman in her third trimester! I believe I am about 5 weeks pregnant. When I took the first blood test I was just exactly 4 weeeks pregnant, although it's possible I am off by 5 days (previous period was 33 days long as opposed to the normal 28 I am). I'm still having more bloodwork done every 2 days and (haven't received the results) and schedule for an ultrasound in 1 1/2 weeks.

So..any suggestions? ANYTHING good or bad would be extremly helpful.

I'm 7 weeks. 2200 hcg... Last week it was 1745 so it didn't double. My doctor says I could still have a healthy pregnancy however it is suspicious because i had a miscarriage almost 2 years ago...I took a blood test yesterday and I'm waiting for the results... I'm going crazy waiting! I'm on progesterone to help me as well. All I can do is pray, pray, and pray! I will pray for all the mommy to be's out there too, xoxo.

I have had some of the same problems and my hcg levels went from 41 to 54 to a 64 to 28 and I have had some nausea an breast tenderness my doctor says I may have had a miscarriage but I have not had any signs of one. I am goin back to the doc in the morn. I am prob at the most two weeks do I still have any hope

I got four positive hpt 03/18/12. Lmp 02/14 ( only consisting of 4 days of light bleeding) went to the doc and my levels were at 22, than 36, than 70. I had a test done a week ago with levels at 175. But results came back with my last test done on wednesday at 159. My doc said to wait it out until monday for more labs. I'm really concerned, I had a miscarriage 12/08and a stillbirth 09/09. I hope third times a charm, but I'm still really worried. I'm super high risk and have the blood disorder factor 5. Any words of encouragement....... *hoping for a miracle*

I went to the ER on Tuesday with stomach pain.. Urine test showed that i am pregnant, not sure as of how far i am because i dont have normal periods. I didnt have a period for 3 years, and got pregnant with my daughter and had a normal pregnancy. Well ive been spotting for 2 1/2 weeks, and havent spotted since the ER visit. My levels were 900ish hCG ... and i was sent to get blood work this morning and its still only 925. They are saying im either at the end of a miscarriage, beinging of a ectopic preg, or beginning of a normal pregnancy. My last full period was about 3 weeks ago. They also cant find a sac in the u/s .. including the internal one. They found a cyst that had ruptured though. Do you think my pregnancy could still turn out okay with those spotting events and my hCG levels not doubling???

I am 5.5 weeks pregnant, had light bleeding for 3 days. Ultrasound showed a sac but no fetus. HCG was 517, still awaiting results of repeat HCG. Have been so worried, hoping to hear a positive outcome. Hoping and praying everything is OK.
