Down syndrome

Ladies, I'm wanting opinions about testing for down syndrome while I'm pregnant. My boyfriend has confessed that he was taking pro hormones at the time that I conceived, and now I'm worried that my baby might end up having birth defects even though the doctor said my baby looks completely healthy. Any opinions or advice?

I haven't taken any drugs ever. I was wondering if my baby would have better chances with me being completely clean of everything.

My husband works out a lot and he knows a lot about pro hormones it would do more damage to your boyfriend than the baby it would be a different story if you were taking something like that while the baby is developing

We had the Downs screening through NHS and came up high risk (im 28, 2nd child) so we went private eith Harmony to do a NIPT which told us straight baby is fine (cost an awful lot but we are glad we had the peace of mind) you dont want that sort of thing to be a surprise..enough to worry about while pregnant without that always nagging at the back of your mind, id recommend Harmony, they test for all sorts and no risk at all to baby x

That's why I was thinking about doing it, bc it would be more emotional delivering and finding out then that something is wrong with your precious baby. It wouldn't change my feelings towards my baby, it would just mentally prepare me.

I got tested and we knew we would live our baby regardless. It had nothing to do with that. It had to do with the fact that we now have wonderful technology that can find issues in advance. In some cases things can be fixed in the womb and in others Dr's will know and be waiting to fix what it is right when baby comes. Many downs babies have heart issues. We wanted to be prepared for anything and give our baby the best chance ragrdless. Best of luck x

My husband wanted to get the testing done so we would be emotionally prepared when the baby comes if they do have any defects.

I'll love my baby regardless, I guess I'm just a stressing mommy :)

Wait sorry. If the doctor says everything looks fine then don't stress. We didn't test for anything and my doctor says he looks good and so we don't worry.
