Hi there. Well, some babies get confused between their days and nights and THAT you can definitely work on. Feed the baby lots and lots during the day. Try to keep baby awake during feedings during the day. Also, try to at least once or twice a day to lay baby down when still awake but dozing off rather than always asleep so that baby learns how to fall asleep on their own. THIS really helps because we ALL wake up at night. Not always do we need to get up but a baby will because they don't know how to go back to sleep without mom rocking them, feeding them, etc.
Now, for a short bit, baby does wake up every 2 to 3 hours but pretty quickly -- within a few weeks, my babies gave me a stretch of 4 to 5 hours. If you do a feeding at midnight, that gets you to almost morning! It really helps if you have your partner do that midnight feeding and you are already asleep and then you can get 7 or so hours depending on when you go to bed. I went to bed really early when my kids were newborns to get rest.
There is no set rule on what happens. I was just at a friends house whose kids BOTH slept through the night by 3 months! Mine didn't do that but some babies do. So, play that by ear. You never know . . . you could be one of the lucky ones. good luck hon
And you have to change there diapers at least twice in the night
Typically in the beginning they won't sleep all the way through the night. That said, my older son was about 2 weeks old and slept 10 hours straight. They would usually do longer stretches throughout the night as well (5-7 hours rather than every 4). I don't feel the need to wake my babies to eat if they do not wake themselves. I believe that is why both my boys have slept through the night since about 2 months old, and yes they were both breast fed. They go through their stages where they wake up, but for the most part now, they usually only need a drink when they do get up in the night. It depends on your own baby's need as well though. If you end up having a preemie or your baby is underweight and you doctor tells you it is important for him/her to eat every ___ hours, you should take that advice.
Not at all, babies need to be fed usually between every 2 and 4 hours (some will feed more often depending on bottle or breastfed) this will mean through the night aswell. Even once they can sleep through the night they will still have a few naps in the day.
Are you being serious? Your posts have me concerned for your child's welfare.
Lol. Nope! They need to eat every few hours!
