Not sure in the UK but here, I'm in US, my midwife suggested it at my 24 week appt. I got both of them. Hubby got them as well. He's Army so he didn't have a choice it was mandatory. But even if not I would of asked him to get one. Now after all that I'm sick. Not flu sick but a cough and sore throat. No fever and I feel okay but ouch my throat hurts.
Im in the uk and my midwife offered me both. She told me to book my appointment for my flu jab then the nurse gave me my appointment for my whooping cough jab after
mckee513 - sorry to hear that u r not well and hope that u will get better soon especially before holiday season.
I'm just so feed up with my surgery but I'm kinda stuck with it because there r no other practices around. The doctors are useless with poor knowledge (using Google to find out if canesten is safe in pregnancy and can't even find the answer, always running half an hour late which put me at risk sitting in waiting room with sick ppl) and the receptionists are rude and unhelpful. We've already put a complain once but I'm just sick and tired and it's make me feel stressed after every time I have to call them
From uk... Got both from gp... Flu jab at 14wks he gave it himself.. But for whopping cough i hve told to call back after christmas n ask for nurse appointment...
My midwife adviced to have a flu jab. Had it done at the hospital in antinatal. I think she said the whooping cough is given later on.
The whooping cough is given between 28w and 38w.
Doc surgerys are horrendous. Weve got 2 in our area.... mine is like trying to get in to visit the queen, u literally have to be dying to get the receptionist to give up appointments... ive lost my rag a few times with them!! The other one has been my bf gp for 17 years and last time we went prescribed him some penacillin for flu, didnt check his temp or any thing else.... my bf has been allergic to penacillin since birth. Good job i went with him n pointed this out (my bf was too sick, that night we ended up in a&e where they kept him in cos of flu!)
And It would be probably easier to get to visit the queen then a gp. We r thinking about moving away from the area because of the lack of proper medical care.
I was offered both but refused she said the latest you can have it is 38wks.
In the past I've only had one flu jab so far & it made me really sick I don't get flu & colds I'm lucky to shake off within a week, but everyone is different.
