Diabetic babies can be smaller too as well as larger. I'm a 20 year diabetic. Not fun at all. My son was born at 35 weeks and was 6 lbs 5.2 oz. So ya he would've been big.
GDM increases your risk for having diabetes later in life. Maintaining normal blood glucose levels during your pregnancy will reduce your chances for a macrosomic baby and diabetic fetopathy.
Thanks for responding. My dad had diabetes but didn't have to take insulin and my grandpa,(dad's dad), had it and had to take insulin. So diabetes run in my family. Just didn't think I would get it because I never had trouble with my sugar. I hope everything goes well for you and Congrats on your baby girl!! I'm team pink too!!! :)
I am 31 weeks measuring 35. I was so worried she was going to be huge too. I had an ultrasound Thursday and they say my baby weighs 3 pounds 11 ounces and there is not too much fluid. That she's doing amazing and is average size. I found out about my GD around 21 weeks and haven't been able too keep it under control with diet. I started insulin today actually which I'm pretty devastated about. But I am also down close to 20 pounds. So everything seems to be average at this point. Hope all goes well your pregnancy!
