Group B Strep

Hi ladies, I just received my results for group b strep and it came back positive. I wasn't surprised, I had the feeling if there was to be something I'd have, it would be that. Anyway, has anyone been positive and what was your experience like? Thanks

I was positive as well. You just need to make sure you go to the hospital as soon as your water breaks or your contractions are 5 minutes apart. I got hooked up to an IV and I had it the rest of my labour, but they switch to just IV fluids after the antibiotics were done.

Thanks. I have been reading about it. I just hope I'm not hooked up to a drip the whole labour. As I want to try stay active throughout. I have no odour or strange discharge.

Everyone has the group b strep in their system, its just a matter of whether it activates during pregnancy. You won't even notice your getting antibiotics during labor. Friend had positive test, she had a foul smelling odor, green like discharge, she did have to be induced only because baby would come on her own. And fear of baby getting too big.

Thank you. My midwife said not to worry about it. It's nice to hear from others who have had it.

It nothing to really worry about just means that when u go into labor u will be given antibiotics through iv. I had it twice out of four of my pregnancies.

I just had mine done on Friday. I get results this coming Friday when I go back. How did you know you were going to be positive?
