Travel at 27 weeks

My husband won a 9 day,  $10k trip to Hawaii in January we were going to use for our 10th wedding anniversary.  I will be 27 weeks prego with twins. My doc is saying I can't go because of the risk of blood clots. I wont go if that's what my doc says but  I'm so depressed about it. It's a once in a lifetime trip.  What would you do? Are my chances of blood clots really that much higher?

Ya know what... doctors arent the gospel. Guess what my doctor told me I can have wine a few nights a week while pregnant. It would help my blood pressure and help with my migraines. So many women on here flipped their sh*t saying obviously Im selfish if I drink.... but hey my DOCTOR said so...MUST be true right? They seemed to totally forget the fact that I mentioned my doctor cleared it. Its so easy to shame on faceless forums.

... I don't drink while pregnant. Btw
Get a second opinion. If the second opinion says no then I'd go with it. None of the women on here, including myself are doctors. You're right this IS a once in a lifetime opportunity. I would definitely seek a second opinion and talk to the airline!
Before anyone gets pissy Im telling her to get a 2nd opinion, not definitely go lol

Paula, of course I care what my doc says as I wrote in my post.  I'm most likely not going.  The doc said it isn't the best idea, the nurse practitioner said absolutely not.  So I was planning on talking more with my doc.  I posted the question because I was curious about others opinions.  Not that any of those opinions would ever outweigh my doctors. Just a bummer realization that I probably won't be going.

You are high risk. I wouldn't even think of going on a vacation and endangering my child's life if that's what the Dr said no matter how great of an opportunity it is. Sorry but I know people said they would go but twins are a gift and I wouldn't personally risk that. But if you're posting the question after asking Dr and getting a no, seems like you don't want to listen to the Dr regardless.

Check with your airline as well and that may answer your own question because a lot of airlines request written medical documentation clearing you to fly. Without that paper, you wont be allowed to board the plane

If you were only pregnant with one baby, I would get a second opinion but since it's twins, that automatically puts you into the high risk category. I know several women that gave birth to twins around that stage. I would listen to your doctor in this case. No trip is worth possibly losing your life or the lives of your babies. Of you decide to get a secobdsecond opinion, you really need to weigh your options and take this very, very seriously.

If you feel good, I would go. How long is the flight for you? Make sure you get up and walk every 1-2 hours on the flight. I know plenty if women who flew at 35 weeks and they were huge, everyone was fine. Just check the airline rules, they may require a doctors note to travel.

well my doc said I would be fine to fly up untill 30 weeks, and allot of ppl do! because of work ect, allot of ppl said as long as you stay hydrated! also some ppl recommend taking an asprin asnit reduces the chance of a blood clot! if would be a shame to miss out and would be a good chance to relax before the baby came! would you consider getting a 2nd opinion?
