Risk of Preterm Labor

My cervix has gone down from being over 4 cm at 21 weeks to 2 cm at 25 weeks today. My doctors want me to stop working immediately. Although I'm not on complete bed rest, my doctor does want me to take it easy. I'm being placed on progesterone suppositories and I received my first steroid shot today for my baby's lung development. I'm supposed to get the second shot tomorrow. The baby is fine. She was actually sucking her toes on the monitor :) It's just very scary.

So sorry to hear that. What I have read and heard it can be really good to stop working and rest more so the cervix doesn't go down any further. It may then stay at 2 cm (in your case) so that your baby can stay in the uterus at least for those weeks needed to make it more safe for preterm labor. But I've also read some can make it through the whole pregnancy with rest and no workload. Hope everything goes well for you and your little one!

Thanks Finurligaida. I hope all goes well too. I already loss one daughter at 21 weeks four years ago. I know I can't go through that again. Thankfully my doctors are really trying all they can to make sure we go home with a baby this time. Trying not to stress but my heart really did sink today

I was just released from the hospital on yesterday for the same but am actually 20 cm shorter in my cervix then I am supposed to be at 30 weeks. The doctor said that since my cervix is already thining that I should work half days so am gonna do what he says and not risk it although the doc says she is doing find because she is still so active and her heart rate is good. Those steroid shots burned like hell though. Lol

I'm in the same boat! I'm trying so hard to do exactly what the doctor says so I can at least be at home and on modified bed rest instead of stuck in the hospital. And I agree those steroid shots suck!

That steroid shot does suck. I'm not looking forward to the second one tomorrow. My bum hurt for hours and I felt flush in the face like I had a fever. At least that flush feeling went away.

That is a blessing. Tuesday will be my last day of work as I have a meeting to go over my cases. Then I'm going to be home. I decided to use the time to study for a certification I kept putting off due to my workload.

I have a question for everyone here though.  When I woke up on yesterday it seems like my breast had doubled in size and they hurt so much.  Is this coming from the steroids?
