Prenatal vitamins or nah????

Is it any mom's out there not taking their Prenatal vitamins at all or taking another vitamin supplement? I have tried all kinds of prenatal vitamins and they all make me sick but I have a very healthy diet. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I didn't take them at all with my first 2 and everything was fine. I do take chewable or gummy vitamins. Just not a pill person its hard for me to take pills.

I only take them every once in a while.  I just read labels and try and eat foods rich in vitamins (i.e. cream of wheat had 50% of your daily value of iron and folate, so does multi grain cheerios... I eat a ton of spinach) basically, my philosophy is, if you are eating healthy it's not necessary.  My midwife even told me I didn't really need to take them if they were just getting thrown up.

My mom told me that the prenatal wasnt necessary . Just make sure you take folic acid,  cuz that's what help develop all the main organs.  Did that wi5h my first and she's very healthy, actually I think her lungs are over develop lol,  that's little girl can scream like no one can.  But for this one , im taking the prenatal cuz I have very little appetite , so I take them to make sure Jr is getting everything he need

They made me sick, too. I started cutting them in half and taking one half in the morning after breakfast and the other half after dinner and have not been sick since.

I heard to take vitamins at night if they make you sick. I take MANY vitamins and in the beginning,  I took them all at night. It helped a lot.

I started out taking vitamins, particularly folic pre-conception,  but at 20weeks pregnant when I STILL had epic morning sickness I decided to just stop trying to force them to stay down. Since then I've felt a thousand times better and doc says all is well so I kinda haven't taken any since! The way I figure,  all will be well :)

9 times outta 10 baby will be fine if you don't take the vitamin. The vitamin is more for the mother as the baby takes everything from you and the vitamin is to replenish you. Unless you Have a deficiency where baby can't get enough from you there's usually no cause for concern.

I've never taken them with any of my pregnancies, and they've been healthy. My Dr had me stop taking them because they were causing me problems

I take a regular multi vitamin and then a separate folic acid. I never had any morning sickness :-)

Have you tried the new prenatal gummys? I alternate between my prenatal and womens multivitamin bc the iron in my prenatal is too much for my body to handle.

You should ask your doctor for a sample of prenate mini....if he/she has some. This is the smallest pv I've ever seen. And it has a coupon in the box where you can save up to $30it on 12 refills. We have Aetna through DH job. And with out the coupon my co pay would be $21.21. So if you plan on bfing that would last you well into your bfing too. Because you should take pv for that too. But they always tell me that if they make me sick (which) they never have to take 2 flintstone chewables a day. The most important thing out of pv though is the folic acid. And you can get that from leafy green veggies and some juices like oj. Good luck mama.
