Papp A concern

Hi I'm 27 yo and pregnant with my 4th baby I'm 16 weeks and I've been told by my doc that I have low Papp A, which I havnt had with any other pergnancy. They've done the scan to see if it has Down's syndrome which came back clear, and said the baby's growth and heartbeat is good. I have looked at some info on the net which scared me but was wondering if any of you might have been through the same thing and how things turned out at the end of your pregnancy?? And if baby's are ok??

I can't remember any situation with a patient with normal genetic screening and 1 abnormal analyte that had fetal growth problems. Based on just the low PAPP-A, your RISK for growth restriction is low. Don't cause yourself undo worry.

Pregnancy Associated Plasma Protein-A. AKA, PAPP-A. It is a protein that is evaluated as part of your genetic serum screening. Sounds like it was just out of the normal range. Assuming your genetic screen was negative, don't worry about it. It is also called a serum analyte. 4-5 analytes are check and their levels in combination are used to calculate your RISK for Trisomies 21, 18, and 13. You can have a negative screen with an abnormal analyte. Just warrants a scan at about 32 weeks to check fetal growth.
