Pedunculated Fibroid

I was wondering if anyone has had fibroids? I have a pedunculated fibroid that has grown significantly. It is nearly the same size as my baby at 16 weeks. My Dr. says it will not interfere with my pregnancy or heath if the baby but that it could cause significant pain for me if it grows large enough to exceed the blood supply. If this happens, the fibroid will begin o break apart causing pain in the abdomen. This scares me! Does anyone have am experience to help ease my mind?

Thanks for the comments ladies! I am okay with the fibroid as my Dr. has said it won't affect the baby. But I am so afraid of the pain it may cause and how I am supposed to be able to differentiate between that pain and something serious. Just one more thing to stress over I guess!

My doctor told me I had fibroids also when I first got pregnant but it was very small and they have yet to say anything else about it... But I'm going to ask hearing about your story.. but it's nothing we can do but sit and wait it out.. Mine was not growing in the rate as yours but what I will say is we are not the first that this happened to I guarantee not the last so don't stress yourself about it.. I would probably only make matters worse.. Goodluck to us..

Yeesh!   Sounds nasty!  I'm glad it won't harm the baby.

Cross that bridge when you come to it, I would suggest.  It might not happen, and if it does happen your doctor will be able to advise you.  Probably in a really extreme situation there is a surgery they can do, but you wouldn't want to go there unless needed.  Let your doctor be your guide.
