No. The prostaglandin in semen can help to soften the cervix but it doesn't start labor all on its own and isn't the only way to get the cervix to soften. That's not what's used to induce labor.
Pitocin, what's generally used in inductions, is a synthetic form of the hormone oxytocin which is better known as the "love hormone". That's what's released when you have an orgasm, when you have a crush on someone and 'get butterflies in your stomach', when you see your baby for the first time and are flooded with so much love you can't breathe. Oxytocin in short is what makes life worth living. And it's what's got to get going in your body to get labor moving.
This doesn't have to include sex. It can be from other forms of sexual excitement (from nipple stimulation or masturbation, for example) or from snuggling the person you love best or just from being relaxed and thinking about your new baby and being excited and anxious and letting your body relax and dilate. This is why stress is bad for labor, why being scared is counterproductive.
Sex doesn't always have to be part of the process. And if your body isn't truly ready, nothing is going to kick start labor. Your cervix will cooperate eventually, though. Think happy thoughts, eat some comfort food, drink some hot chocolate or some tea or something that makes you feel warm and good. Snuggle up with one of your new baby's blankets. Relax and feel happy and imagine how wonderful you'll feel when your baby is here. That's the best possible way to make it there. Don't be scared, be excited and happy. Accept that it's going to be hard, know that it will all be worth it when you get your prize in the end. You can do it. It's going to be great.

I agree, I have also heard that something in sperm is what helps labor start. It thins out your cervix! Good luck! I'm 37+5 days and I started to dilate already. I go on the 13th to set up an induction date!

My doctor said the stuff inside sperm is what they use to induce labor. It could help or not. Either way your baby is coming soon!!!
