Q. About baby boys.

I have a 4 month old and found that he has pubic hair. Dr said it looked Ok just to keep and eye on it. Anyone else have this happen? How did it turn out? Sorry to ask this on here but I don't know of anyone who has seen this before. And I am pregnant that's why I have this app. But fig that maybe out of all the mommies on here maybe someone else has been seen it. Thanks!

Thanks lady's! I worry a LOT because of family history of cancer and other stuff. I know I shouldn't worry so much everything happens for a reason but it's my baby. I knew growing up I would have cancer because every woman has had it on my mom's side and I have and continue to be watched for it because it grows back within a couple of years. So I worry about my boys. My brother at 25 had testicular cancer and so him having this and reading what's online scares me.

Pubic hair in an infant is not very common and can be a cause for concern. If there is just peach fuzz or a couple sparse hairs its usually nothing and can be kept an eye on. However if he develops anything else such as axillary hair, body odor, or lumps near the nipples then that is a red flag and he needs to see an endocrinologist. Also if the pubic hair increases over time that is also a concern. Many drs will just want to keep an eye at first, since babies are seen quite frequently there is no danger in waiting to see if there's a change in amount of hair at the next visit.

He has an appointment with a different Dr soon and am going to talk to him about it. We are trying to switch because he acts like ur stupid with anything you say or ask. No one likes him but both of my old son's Dr's are leaving the office so they will not take my 4 month old :-( So I got him in with a new Dr.... .We will see. I truly would be content with a blood test showing his level so I would know.

I have 4 boys and 1 girl, expecting another boy. My boys had peach fuzz but most certainly couldn't tell unless you were up close. But if it's possibly to do with his testosterone levels them that's why I stated above that he could have an overgrowth of hormones. There are rare cases of this and could possibly be vert serious, I would look into seeing a specialist, right away. I personally would be very concerned especially to the extent you are explaining the hair growth. Hopefully all is well!!!

If you're that concerned I'd suggest a second opinion from a doctor

Me either until Monday when we noticed it. I Googled it and it can be serious. But also could be testosterone levels.

I don't understand why your sons pediatrician would recommend you keeping an "eye on it", actually it's common for babies to have body hair. It's protection and helps control his body temperature. Now if your son has very long and a lot  that's growing around his private area, sometimes this could possibly be due to his body over producing hormones. Other them that "peach fuzz" lol is common!! :-)

It can be ok but can also be very serious. That's kinda why I wanted to how anyone else's turned out. My dr is kinda lazy an I don't know if I trust his opinion. He starts a new Dr soon and I hope he's more serious.
