Skin to skin contact

Just curious  if any has or plans to have regular skin to skin contact with their baby after birth. I know many do an hour after birth but I've been reading that an hour a day for up to three months can be beneficial, thoughts? Also, what about skin to skin with dad? Any opinions or information would be a great help!

I'm doing skin to skin right after birth, so there is expectation of me being topless during delivery (regardless of the slimy blood, etc. I'm not comfortable about it, but I'm sure after epidural, I would probably not care and look forward to seeing my baby in my arms. Basically, I was told the sooner you do skin to skin the closer and faster the bonding. This is because once the baby comes out, they are separated from the body temperature they were once fully used to throughout your. So skin to skin helps them be reminded of that warmth. A lot of other deliveries are different, some prefer to have the baby cleaned up, measured, and weighed first before doing skin to skin. It's is really up to your blurry plan.

I just had my 3rd baby 4 days ago. As soon as your baby is cleaned up, put baby right on your chest skin to skin. Yes it is very beneficial especially if u want to breastfeed. I do about 1 hour a day. Dad does about 1 hour each night once he settles in from work. He just sits in a rocking chair and watches his show. It helps her bond with him so when i need a break, shes use to daddy taking over for a little while.

How long per session would you recommend? Do you split the time between you and dad?
