TESTING

Anyone do the test (sry I don't know the right name) for down syndrome among other things?

If so, what was your risk? I am curious how low or high my result was.

I did mine.. It was just an ultrasound to measure babys neck and some blood work and my Results were 1 in 14 thousand.  So I'm very low risk. I am also 26 yrs old and there is no history of this in either of our families and they Factor both of that in as well.

I got it done (just the ultrasound not the amniocentesis which is what I think you are referring to) and it was wrong. They told me my son was going to have Down Syndrome and he didn't. Statistically as it stands the amniocentesis produces a false positive in roughly about 4.6% of cases but is wrong up to 14% of the time.

I got the down syndrome test done due to my family history of twins and one with it having having health issues /( death few months within birth) wanted to be prepared so if it was a possibility of my baby having it I could  be ready as things arised medical wise that comes along with down syndrome. I have a down syndrome brother  with other health issues associated with  down sydrome whom twin died in the womb all the test Dr did and  the ultrasounds he did ( i paid for four extra wanted make sure a twin could not be hiding) was  worth it to me as so I was not unaware totally unprepared if it was to happen/ medical issues arise still prepared for of it does  even though it came back no risk cause my mom showed up no risk of down syndrome when she was pregnant with my brother whom turned out to have it. Just either way whether at risk or not whether it happens or don't I will love my baby just the sameband I am sure you will too.

If you didn't do the blood work a week before, they wouldn't be able to give you your complete results.  Did they give you your results but no risk information?

The tech did my NT yesterday but didn't tell me anything but the doc came in and said everything looked perfect with baby. They also took blood from me for the genetic testing which will give other information. I would call your doctor. They should have said something I would think

Your doctor didn't explain whether you were high risk or not?  Did they tell you they wanted to do follow up tests?  And are you talking about the neuchal translucency test?
