Toxoplasmosis testing

Hello everyone,
I'm 9w3d pregnant with my first child and I am not sure if any of you had to get, or requested, a toxoplasmosis test. I just watched monsters inside me about a couple who's child got infected from his mother and was left legally blinded by the infection. I do order my meats medium rare and have 3 cats for over 5 years. Should I request my doctor to get tested and how soon should I do this?

is this not a regular test in your country? Here it is. Along with the 12 weeks' triple screening for down syndrome and edwards syndrome, you are tested for toxoplasmosis, VIH, hepatitis, measles and I'm sure I'm forgetting something else

It never hurts to get tested but you're more than likely ok :).

Thank you very much. I will post it to the doc just in case. My cats are strictly indoors so I am a little more at ease.

Also, if you contracted taxoplasmosis before getting pregnant (lots of people have) it can't hurt your baby.   The danger lies if you get it while pregnant.   So if you used to eat med rare meat before pregnancy but you haven't been since being pregnant,  chances are you have nothing to worry about.

I've had this test done when I accidentally ingested dome undercooked pork at someone's house.   It took about a week to come back and it was negative.   Chances are that you're fine as well, but Id stear clear of undercooked meat during pregnancy.   It needs to be well done.   Also don't clean your cat's litterbox and you should be ok.  Btw, are your cats indoor only or do they go outdoors as well?  If they're indoor only,  you probably have a very low risk of getting taxoplasmosis from your cats.
