Vitamin A?

Hi ladies - I'm about 5 weeks and I've read that vitamin A is dangerous in levels over 10,000 IU - the prenatal I'm on has 4,000 IU (50% DV). I'm so nervous about getting too much that I'm looking up every food I'm thinking about eating... It would seem like I have plenty of wiggle room, but when I look up the foods, it seems like I could easily go over the 10,000 IU by the time I add up all the foods throughout the day. Has anyone asked their Dr. about this? I asked mine, she said I didn't need to worry as much as I am, but of course I'm still worried. Looking for another opinion! Thanks

Great, thanks! I'm actually trying to do more research now, and I am finding similar info it's just kind of confusing! Thanks for the reassurance! :)

I was scared at first too, but don't worry! There's two kinds of vitamin A (or rather two ways it's absorbed). Stuff like carrots and lettuce and other veggies that are high in vitamin A are good for you, and because of the way your body absorbs it, it's okay to eat that kind. You want to avoid stuff like liver. I researched it months ago, but if you Google vitamin A and do a little searching around you'll find stuff about how your body absorbs it and which things are good during pregnancy. I wish I could remember more about what it said, but it put my mind at ease at least. Hope this helps!
