Risks of Inducing?

I will be 39 weeks on Thursday the 12 and scheduled to be induced. The reason the Dr suggested it is I live a long way from the hospital (over and hr).
I will say that when we decided to induce, I really couldn't think of anything to ask the Dr at the time. So I've been doing my own research. Mayhaps not the best idea as now I've managed to scare myself lol.
A few of the articles I read said it is more painful than regular labor due to going right into active labor, rather than the slow buildup. Also I read that it increases the chance of fetal complications and stress, resulting in a high risk of c-section.  There were other risks mentioned as well.
Any mother's out there that have been induced, and would be willing to share their experience? I know every woman and every pregnancy is different. But some firsthand knowledge would ease my mind. Thanks in advance :)

I asked my Dr...He said usually if ur cervix is ready and you have some dilation it should be ok. I'm scheduled for an induction this Wed 6/11 as I was due 6/6. I have to return to work (I'm self employed) on 7/14 so I need to have her. Lots of ppl on here tell me I'm selfish for inducing and rushing back to work but I really don't care what they think bc they don't have my bills every month!
Neways, best of luck to you!! ;)

My water broke on its own but my body wasnt contracting well so I needed to get put on pitocin. Everything went fine for me but it does greatly increase the need for a csection with each medical intervention they use.

DO NOT INDUCE. Ask for cervidil, it's like a little thing like a tampon that they put inside to help your cervix dialate, it doesn't work the first day but after Ileft the hospital i was contracting for 3 days had my baby the next day... it doesn't hurt, but you do contract, I did the night they put it in but I didn't dialate.. I started to dialate the 4th day when I got my epidural and pitocin.

I was induced with my baby girl and we had absolutely no complications. The pain is killer and comes on very fast past I managed to push through it until they were going to break my water so I opted for an epidural. I was only in active labor for 4/5 hours and she was out within 10-15 minutes of pushing and I only had two small tears on the inside requiring stitches.. I wouldn't worry.  With induction my nurses and doctors monitored me very closely to make sure all was going ok and to make sure every thing was done to avoid c section unless absolutely necessary

I was induced with my first at 42 weeks. It started at 715am and I had him at 1135am. It was very intense yes but it was quick and we were both ok. I went into labor on my own with my second and it was over 24hrs of labor from start to finish!! I would get induced again if need be.

I was induced with my first one. I ended up being in labor for quite a long time. I don't remember much more about the labor and delivery because I got a bad uteras infection (not because of being induced, I had been having issues for the previous month and a half and the infection was the culmination of it). I do suggest the epidural though for pain.

Do to medical reasons, baby size, and distance from the hospital, I have been induced both pregnancies. Must likely will be with this current one as well. I have had no issues. Can't compare pain to labor with out since I've only been induced. I waited till after my water broke to get epidural...so that really never slowed me down. Have friends that got it too early and they ended up with c section cuz labor was slow and they wanted their baby asap. Lol my first labor after induction was around 11 hrs. My second was about 6. My Dr. won't induce unless you are dilated I think at least 3 cm and show signs of readiness so that may be a help as well. Trust your doctor and trust your body. Sometimes it does take time but even women who aren't even induced take time. Everyone is different. Some women have fast experiences while others have longer labor! :-)

If you get induced..... I STRONGLY suggest getting an epidural!!!!!!!! The Patosin that they give you really speeds up the delivery in the beginning. But sometimes it can slow it down half way. Just make sure you get drugs!

I havent personally been induced but my sister was with her second baby and she said the pain is worse but her and baby were fine, and my best friend was induced and it did nothing to her but give her contractions so she had to have a c section because she never dilated past 3cm

I had a very easy labor with my first induction! Baby came really fast and I felt no pain because I opted for the epidural. I plan on getting induced again in 26 days if I make it till then ☺️ I'm not nervous one bit!
