Weight gain on GD diet

I am 32 weeks and found out I had Gestational Diabetes 3 weeks ago. I am currently diet controlled and have not gained any weight in a month and have actually lost 4 pounds! Anyone experiencing the same issue while on the gd diet? I am worried I am starvng my baby.

For example, I can have new York style pizza and my blood sugar stays good thanks to insulin, when i had a piece of cake last week it went a bit higher than it should. But not super duper hyper ;) i feel like I am able to have a treat now and then and still feel well afterwards.

You are able to eat more carbs and feel more satiated. But still need to have a healthy diet and avoid simple sugars. Just like any diabetic really.

Do you have to be on thr gd diet while on insulin? I seriously rather shoot myself with insulin than starve everyday.

Cutting out all carbs is simply unhealthy.  They power your body. I'm taking insulin and feeling like I can eat normal again. I'm a healthy eater anyway so avoiding simple sugars isn't hard. :)

Girls, please speak to your dr/Midwife!

Lucky. I keep gaining weight. But its normal when you're cutting out carbs from your diet to lose a few unneeded pounds. As long as you're eating healthy and taking your vitamins you baby is fine. And to people who say you shouldn't lose weight while pregnant they're wrong it depends on the person. Depending on how much you weigh losing some weight isn't a bad thing. Just talk to your doctor.

I hate my GD diet!!!! I've lost 2lbs so far after being on it just over a week!!!! I'm really worried too since I'm 35wks and I've only gained 13lbs my entire pregnancy. Right before the diagnosis my OB had asked that a gain at least a pound a week til the end and now I'm going backwards! I'm always starving on this diet and I was never a big eater, especially during my pregnancy and I was never overweight...I'm small!!! Ugh! Baby's last weight was aprox. 5lbs so figure how much I'll disappear after birth:(  I can't wait to see my OB to complain about my nutritionist n this diet!!!!

The specialist told me off when I lost a kilo in a week through reducing carbs. I think it depends on the weight you started with but weight loss isn't recommended in pregnancy. Make sure you are providing essential nutrients to your baby!
