Worried momma...

Three weeks ago now, after a long year of ttc, we got a bfp on an at home test! Scheduling an apt with my dr immediately I got in the next day for an ultra sound. At my ultra sound appt they saw the gestational sac and it was measuring me to be able 5 weeks, however there was no yolk sac and no fetal pole. They left it to hormone levels, and hormone levels are right on track with being 5 weeks. They wanted a follow up for the next week.. the next week I go in, same thing.. there is my sac, measuring at 6 weeks 1 day, yet no yolk sac and no fetal pole. They take hormone levels they have increased up to 9000, which they said is right on track. At this point they are saying it could be ectopic, could be a blighted ovum, or could still be too soon. They want me to come back in another week. Which was yesterday. Yesterday I was 6 weeks 6 days... they do my sono. Still no fetal pole or yolk sac, and the gestational sac has no grown. However my hormone levels have increased to 12,000. At this point they are preparing me for the worst. Saying it looks like ectopic may not be the case. But miscarriage may be what happens. Everyday I get more pregnancy symptoms, and I haven't lost any hope yet. Was hoping someone out there had the same story. I go back again in a week. This has been the longest 3 weeks of my life!!

I agree. If there is a visible sac, it wouldn't be ectopic unless there's some weird science behind it maybe??? I've heard of people not seeing anything until even 9-10 weeks. It is a good sign with your levels going up so keep your chin up :)

It is still a bit early. I had my first appointment for this pregnancy at 8 weeks and it was still hard for my ob to see much more than the sac. Try to relax as much as you can. Your numbers are going up that is a very good sign.

I agree & your hcg levels should not be doubling if you're having a miscarriage. The same thing happened to me. It's just too early & as doctors they should know that. I went back 2 & a half weeks later to see my baby's fluttering heartbeat.

Agree with first comment I think before 7 weeks is way too early
I went to my first ultrasound thinking I was around 12 weeks I was only 8w6d.. If I had gone any sooner I would have been freaked out thinking I was father along when I really wasn't

I've had pregnancies before where they haven't seen anything in the sac before 8 weeks. It depends so much on the machine and many variables, even the technician. If they're seeing a sac in your uterus then why would there be another ectopic sac? Ultrasounds before 7-8 weeks IMO shouldn't be done, more often than not creates more worry than reassurance.
