Any small babies?

My baby had been measuring small. I had an ultrasound today and she was 5 lbs 2 Oz and I'm 37 weeks today. The midwife said we'd have to monitor babies growth closely for intrauterine growth restriction. At 35 weeks she was 4lbs 4oz so i guess that's a good weight gain but i won't see the midwife until Tuesday. She said if baby isn't growing properly I'd possibly be induced early. Anyone experience this?

This happens a lot, and usually by the time the baby comes, they have gained just fine. But there is sometimes a risk, if your placenta has stopped feeding the baby. So I would say let them induce, if they feel it's necessary.

Wow I really hope I don't have to be induced. I started a high protein diet since my last ultrasound and she's gained almost 1 lb in 2 weeks. I'll obviously do whatever is best for my baby but I really want her to come on her own.

My baby was growth restricted and I had to be induced. I had an aminocentisis to check for lung development and once it came back her lungs were developed I was induced the next morning. She weighed exactly 4lbs. They never did know why she stopped growing. I was 36 weeks. She's healthy and happy now. Only 11 days in NICU.

Keep in mind your baby is gaining a half a pound a week now, so @ 38 close to 6pds @39 over 6pds @ 40 close to 7pds = average size baby....I wouldn't be concerned at all

The same thing was just told to me on yesterday because my baby boy is only 4lbs10oz right now and they believe that the two fibroids I have are causing growth restrictions like they did with my baby girl who we ended up delivering @  38wks and she was healthy but 5lbs 2oz. My initial due date is Feb 19th but the cesarean was scheduled for Feb 12th and now due to sga (growth) my cesarean may be bumped up sooner dependi.g on my 2 Nst test appts, 1 bpp/growth appt and my 1 ob visit weekly.

Best wishes to you. ..I'm sure that your baby will be perfect and healthy.

I have really small girl babies!  My first was girl 6.3, second was boy 7lbs. My 3rd was boy 6.11 and Im currently pregnant with 4th girl is about 4.5ish lbs and im 34 weeks.  Dont be too worried!  If you think about it 25 years ago it was normal to have a 5 to 7 lbs baby!  The only reason babies are soo big now a days is because of all the extra crap pumped into our food!!

I really hope they're underestimating her weight also. Thanks for your comment.
