Even better if you can learn to 'tuck your ribs' and grow long form the upper spine to avoid further swaying through your lower back.
This is certainly a common finding. During pregnancy the hormone relaxin 'softens' and relaxes ligaments and the walls of the uterus (a very good thing). Relaxin causes less 'holding' in the pelvic joints and this can result in kind of hyper-mobility in joints around the lower back and pelvis, resulting in an altered pelvic position.
The most common posture type I see during pregancy is swayback posture - when the normal lumbar lordosis (curve) becomes exaggerated and the pelvis tips too far forward. Often as a result of the posture being tipped forward, our centre of gravity travels forward and the head will begin to travel forward too (forward head posture).
You may find learning how to do a basic pelvic tilt is helpful. It is always the gold standard to work on your posture prior to pregnancy so you are good and strong when the hormones kick in. It's never too late to improve posture, just a little more challenging when pregnant.
I definitely struggle to sit up straight.
I have a hard time sitting up straight for more than a couple minutes. My posture is worse than ever!
Definitely has gotten worse. I have scoliosis so the leaning back while walking is really tearing me up. When I'm sitting down I lean forward so my legs/feet will help support the belly, also hurting my back. I can't win. Sigh.
I slouch forward more bc if I lean back I feel like it's stretching the skin on my belly more.
What do you consider bad posture??? Your posture will definitely change to adjust for the baby... Waddling and more lean towards the back in your walk... I think it's or pretty normal...
