benadryl

I've been having extremely dry itchy skin. Its to the point where I can't sleep at night. i did change my soap and lotion and it has helped with the dryness. But itchiness hasnt subsided (feels like something is biting me) and lab results came back normal.  Today I called my docs office and I was told I can take benadryl for the itching. My question is have any of you moms taken benadryl and baby was fine? I'm worried because I wouldn't normally take anything but I'm miserable:(

To many effects. Just like now that one heart burn med that ppl have been taken for years is causing stuff. Id try oatmeal baths and using cool water ( warm or hot drys skin) coconut oil works. Its all better than nothing I definitely know when I don't use it. Also bio oil on and flaky skin
