Well excuse me but I would rather go by what my doctor says regardless of whether I feel I can lift it or not. Why would you even risk it? @Courtd16 just contact your OB and see what they tell you not what we may tell you.
I agree with those who say it depends on what you're used to and what you're capable of.
If you have an impending miscarriage or some other serious health issue, lifting would be a problem.
History is full of women who aren't first-time moms, who carried older children around while they were pregnant.
Obviously, if you weren't active and fit before pregnancy, or if you have a special condition you need to listen to your doctor's advice about lifting. Otherwise, normal freedom of movement and moving around the way you did prior to pregnancy is usually fine.
Here here! No more bubble wrap!
Only because a woman is pregnant doesn't mean shes weak and "shouldn't lift more that 10lbs". The 1st trimester is crucial so yes, dont lift heavy items but after that if u can handle it then lift it. I still carry my groceries and, I still go up and down the stairs with a 30lbs laundry bag(only when my husband isnt. Looking. He would attack me if he found out) . I feel that PREGNANCY DOESN'T MEAN "FRAGILE". Again, im not saying to go out and lift 90lb things... I think 30lbs and under is fine... TOO ME! No SHADE!
People like to tell you what you can lift all throughout your pregnancy. I work in retail - a warehouse actually and I am 27 weeks along. I spoke to my doctor early on who advised me as long as I can comfortably lift it and I am using the correct lifting techniques there is no harm to either me or the baby. I must say its interesting that people like to tell you what to lift and what to eat etc.......but when you really look into the dos and don'ts of pregnancy it comes down to what you feel is right for you. Only you can know how much is the right weight to lift. Don't let anybody tell you different.
^^idk about that answer. Just bc you can lift it doesn't mean you should lift it. I think in your first trimester you shouldn't bc you are already at a higher risk for miscarriage just for being in you're first trimester. I'd def wait and talk to your doctor.
You can lift the same amount as you did before you got pregnant. Your body is accustomed to lifting that much and its no strain. Dont however try to lift more than you are used too. Im 35 weeks pregnant and still lifting 50lbs because thats what im used too!
What Keelie says is absolutely correct. I'm 10w & am on strict order not to lift anything in fear of a miscarriage. I'd also suggest telling your employer privately that you are pregnant and that you now have restrictions. If they don't agree with you def get that note.
You shouldn't be lifting more then 25lbs right now. Yoy need to get a doctors note. You shouldve gotten one at your appt with the doctor if you haven't seen the doc yet make a point to call them and get asap. Lifting too much can cause you to miscarry. I worked retail up until 3 wks ago and I got one.
