First pregnancy we made our public announcement at 13 weeks after the first ultrasound though our families knew before that. It was really fun telling everyone and getting that shocked surprise and having people being supportive throughout the pregnancy until our son was born.
Second pregnancy we'd been telling friends here and there and most of our circle knew we were expecting, then we miscarried at 11 weeks.
Third pregnancy we were more cautious but since I was 8 weeks at our wedding I had told my bridal party about it, for bachelorette party reasons and let it slip to several others as well. And we miscarried at 12 weeks.
If we are lucky enough to get pregnant again we will be keeping our mouths firmly shut until probably halfway through the pregnancy, until it's blatantly obvious without saying anything. Hearing people make idiots of themselves as they try to console us with all the wrong words... truly no fun at all. Close family and best friends is plenty.

I am 4 months and change and I still haven't told all my friends because I'm not ready yet.  I say do it when you feel your ready... I'm on social networks and I haven't announced it there either.. I just don't feel ready to announce it to the world only people in my closest circle knows or if people see me outside..

Whenever your ready is usually a good time!I know some superstitious mommies wait til 12 weeks...after the first trimester chances of miscarriage are drastically lower! I myself have been recommended by dr to wait til this mark, But I'm also high risk...you could also tell closet friends ...then gradually tell more as pregnancy progresses! Best of luck ;)
