Because taking prenatal vitamins and taking care of your body is all you really can possibly do at that point. I haven't been seen for a prenatal visit before 11 weeks in any of my pregnancies, not even for a "confirmation" - my midwives are perfectly comfortable trusting the results of home pregnancy tests. Blood tests are totally unnecessary (and unbelievably expensive) when a urine test from the dollar store gives the same answer.

It depends on your doctor, but mine did a blood draw to confirm the next day after I called and I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks. When they measure weeks though, they add two so keep in mind that if it's been two weeks since conception they will consider you four weeks. However, I have a friend who said the doctor won't see her until she is 12 weeks. I'd call your doctor and ask. Best of luck!
