VBAC after c section for small birth canal?

Sorry this got a little long! :)

So I am currently 27+3 weeks with baby number 2. My first was a c section because he didn't fit through birth canal. He was 9 lbs 9 0z and I had gained 30+ lbs during pregnancy. At my 20 week ultrasound with my little girl I'm carrying, she was measuring 5 days ahead. I wasn't set one way or the other, but was leaning towards scheduled c section this time. During my appointment on Monday, my doctor was telling me about a patient who had very similar first birth to me and two weeks prior had a successful vbac. This pregnacy I have been doing really well with weight gain and have only gained 5 lbs so far. My doctor says if that continues and if my cervix if favorable then my chances of success with vbac look much better. So my question is have any of you other moms had c section for small birth canal and then had a vbac?

Thank you for your feed back. Yes I did move and try different positions. I pushed for almost two hours and he had not made any progress. I was 41 weeks and my son was 9 lbs 9 0z. I have a different doctor this pregnacy and he said if my cervix is looking ready then I would be induced at 39 weeks so baby would be smaller to help go natural as well. I'm also expecting baby the end of march. Good luck to you as well.

I don't mean to pry, but did the Dr let you push with your 1st in any other position besides on your back?  When we push on our back our pelvis is at its smallest! And often babies that wouldn't have got stuck in an all 4s or squatting push, get stuck on back pushing.  We're you allowed to move during labor? There's SO much rotating that baby needs to do, and if you're not allowed freedom of movement that also leads to stuck babies.

It might be that you are one of the very rare women who do have a small pelvis, but I just want you to be sure. It's so very rare a woman can't birth the baby she grows. The extra weight gain sounds like cap to me - plenty of women gained way more than that, and we're plus size even to start, and had perfectly natural births.

Just want you to be aware so you get the best care possible!
