Has any moms been robbed out of there baby shower?

Being a military family, we're constantly moving. which is cool I don't mind it. But my bundle of joy was not expected, although im very excited about her, I wanted to experience having a baby shower for my first born.. By the time i supposed to had a baby shower I would be 8mon pregnant. Can't fly home and I don't wanna be on the road for 2 to 3 days...so I was thinking after she's born should I have a meet & greet baby shower? Did any other moms have a problem that they didn't have a baby shower? Did any mom's have a baby shower after there baby was born?

A meet and greet would be good cause then you know exactly what size your baby will be. :)

Me and my husband moved away for work closest family member is 3 1/2 hours away I'm not traveling so we r having a Skype baby shower so our family's still feel together registered at a couple place and have the date pick for February. Hoping it all goes good! Meet and greet after the baby is born sounds amazing too

I don't plan on having one and I don't feel robbed for not having one either.  My reasons are that I'm still fairly new in the town I live in and I haven't made many close friends.  I don't believe in having a baby shower and inviting the only ppl I know which r co-workers who I'm not even close to anyways as a good excuse to have a baby shower, unless they wanted to throw one for me then I plan on getting all baby essentials on our own and maybe asking if family from out of town would like to contribute. My baby is still going to be celebrated and welcomed by his own family.
