get this thing off...rant

Hey everyone so I fell with all this pregnancy balance! I thought trying to catch myself with my wrist instead of my tailbone might be best at 32 weeks. Anyways went to doctors lastnight and they put a brace on. He wants me in it until Friday. I cant do anything with it on and its driving me crazy. If it's still hurting friday he wants to try physical theropy. As a last resort he will x-ray. The dont want to expose me to the radiation if the dont have to. I understand but this baby will be delivered in 7 weeks ready or not. I really do not want to deliver in a cast if this does not work.... frustrated sorry

I totally feel your pain. I feel and broke my ankle in the beginning of March, I had to get xrays. Then they put me in a hard cast and I had to use crutches! Finally got my cast off and they put me in an air cast. Im 30weeks and 6 days now. It felt impossible to do anything, I cried alot. I hope you get better soon, prayers!

Thanks Amanda sorry for your pain too! I just worry if I have a cast taking care of a newborn I could hurt the baby by moving him or her, feedings and who wants to snuggle with a cast!

if you want to hurry & get it over with, I'd go ahead & ask for the x-ray.
I'm an x-ray tech. and honestly.. the x-ray to your wrist won't cause any harm to your baby. even IF you didn't have radiation protection on, which you should, that small amount of radiation isn't enough to do anything to anybody. people (mainly the doctors) are sooo afraid that if you have the x-ray, something goes wrong with the baby, you can turn around & sue them.. there's so many reports about x-ray's being okay/not okay/it'd just be a battle between lawyers & not facts if it were to go to court..

x-ray radiation is not that serious. I don't care what anybody says.. the radiation you get during CANCER treatments is a different story - if it's strong enough to burn you, then it's danger.. but not just a simple wrist x-ray.
they should lay a "lead apron" across you so nothing gets to the baby anyway.
I'd have the x-ray to make sure things were okay! good luck!! ((((:

You can get dental xrays while pregnant so how is it different?!? I would ask them to just double cover your belly with the lead sheets and do the xray to make sure it's not broken
