My doctor gave me some too, just a low dose, but on the bottle it said that it could cause serious health problems in the 3rd trimester or withdrawal symptoms in new borns. You're almost done mama. Can you hold on until baby is born?

I get the need for it. I took it daily for most of my first trimester (didn't know I wad pregnant). I was able to go off it and use other techniques to help my mood.  What I learned about it was you should be off Ativan by the third trimester if you can- it is a category D, which means there is a link to fetal harm from that drug.  Plus it also has addictive qualities so it can make your baby have withdrawals. I know it can be hard but there are safer options. That being said I don't know you're situation and for you the Ativan may be the only thing that works. I find Diversional activities- walking,  music, tv, reading taking a bath all very helpful.  Lavender oil is also very soothing. And don't underestimate the power of talking with a friend or even a counselor:) be reassured that just taking one is not going to be damaging. Good luck and best wishes mama:)

Ativan or effexor is for anxiety or depression. I took it through my first pregnancy and am currently on it. People who do not Need medication on a daily don't tend to understand the need for some meds. I was told by an obgyn and pharmacist that you should try to be off by your 3rd trimester. However if your health is compromised then it is safer to stay on it

You should only take it if the benefits greatly outweigh the risks and of course if your doctor knows you ate pregnant. It passes through to the placenta which is while they are used with caution. Talk to your doctor about the risks because they should have already informed you about them. Or the pharmacy can help you to understand as well. They are often mote knowledgeable than doctors concerning meds.
