I was born with club feet. Not that i remember any of it but i guess my feet had to be broken and reset, then i wore casts and special corrective shoes. At night i guess i had a bar in between my feet to hold them straight that i have been told i would bang it against the side of the crib and keep everyone awake. :) But I am completely fine. I played sports growing up and never had any problems walking, running, kicking a ball, swimming, etc... It is completely treatable. Good luck!
This is a challenge for parents bc of all of the extra appointments, cast changes, and 3 years of shoe wearing.... but the kids do just great with compliant parents. If u have any other questions , feel free to private message me. I'll help in any way that I can!
A friend of mine was told the same and it turned out to be a false alarm. Hope baby boy is healthy otherwise and that you get things figured out either way!
My last doctor appointment my doc says my baby foot looks like club foot but he wasn't for sure. He said could be the way the baby was laying at the time of US.. but my baby is in the head down position. I've read about club feet too.I go see the specialist Monday. I pray that both of our babies have normal feet and that all is well with both our little ones and we continue to have a healthy pregnancy.
My cousin was born that way and the doc had to breaks reset just feet and put it in a cast for six weeks. But his was really severe. Hopefully your baby will be OK with just the casts!
Sorry but what is club feet ??
Google pediatric orthopedic procedures for club feet
On the bright side, if they cast you get a little casts to chart babies growth:)
I work with an orthopedic dr. We cast babies with club feet and once dr gets them to a certain point we send them to a specialist who does ped ortho. They will sometime continue casting or do a procedure to the feet. Depends on the dr and baby.
If ur baby had club feet, an orthopedic doctor will see them in the hospital before discharge. At one week old, baby will be placed in casts from the foot up above the knee, high on the thigh. Casts are changed once weekly at the ortho office. Most kids need between 5-8 weeks of casting. For severe cases, a very minor procedure is preformed in the office with a bit of numbing medicine to release a tendon in heel area. Baby tolerates this very well. Once the feet are corrected ( after 5-8 weeks of casting), baby is placed in a special set of shoes. They are normal shoes attached to a bar to hold the feet in place. Baby wears these full time for 3 months, then anytime baby is asleep for 3 years.
